مرحباً بالشادن الغزل

زارني وهنا على مهل

Welcome, oh gentle gazelle song

Who visited me here at ease

كقضيب البان في كثب

ينثني في الحلى والحلل

Like a rod of eglantine in bloom

Bending in trinkets and finery

كلما هب الجنوب له

سحراً يهتز كالثمل

Whenever the south wind stirs it

Magically it sways like a dangling fruit

هو من كأس الصبا ثمل

ليس كأس الإثم والزلل

It is drunk from the cup of youth

Not the cup of sin and missteps

فشفى نفسي برؤيته

من جيمع الداء والعلل

Its sight cured my soul

Of all sickness and defects

عطر في ثغره برد

لذلي في النهل والعلل

A refreshing scent on its lips

Delightful in slopes and heights

وأحيلاه وألطفه

رائق الإقبال والقبل

I found it most pleasant and gentle

Fine in coming and going

خلقه مثل النسيم إذا

رق في الأبكار والأصل

Created like a soft breeze

Stirring the virgins and origin

ما به خلف ولا ملل

بئس حال الخلف والملل

No defect or boredom in it

Wretched are defect and boredom

فرعه ليل وغرته

قمر يصطاد بالمقل

Its branches are night and its flower

A moon hunting with eyelashes

لم أزل في حال عشرته

نازلاً بالمنزل الخضل

I have not stopped in its company

Descending at the green campsite

فسقى الرحمن معهده

بين ربع القوم والجبل

So the Merciful watered its meadow

Between a quarter of people and a mountain

وسقى الساحات منهمل

غدق في أثر منهمل

And irrigated the barren plains

Pouring after the running rain

يضحي الربع به خصباً

خضر الأوعار والسهل

The quarter becomes fertile from it

Green in litter and plain

مربع الأحباب من قدم

ومحط السادة الأول

A square of loved ones from the past

And stopover of the first masters

من تريم الخير لابرحت في

أمان اللَه خير ولي

I have not ceased in calling for good

In God's protection, the best guardian

والإله الحق خالقنا

جل عن شبه وعن مثل

And God the True, our Creator

Exalted above likeness and peer

وأمان المصطفى المدني

أحمد الأملاك والرسل

And the protection of the Chosen of Medina

Ahmad the angels and messengers

وأمان العترة الشرفا

من بني الزهرا وآل على

And the protection of the honorable lineage

The children of Zahra and the family of Ali

وبنى علوي قادتنا

جامعي العلم والعمل

And the Alawi leaders our guides

Gatherers of knowledge and deed

وحماة الجار من زهق

وأذى بالبيض والأسل

And protectors of the neighbor against

Harm with whips and swords

الكرام المطمعين لمن

أمهم في الخصب والمحل

The generous hoping for one whose

Mother is fertile and settled

مثل مولانا المهاجر لذ

بابن عيسى السيد البطل

Like our Master the Emigrant who

Clung to the son of Isa the valiant master

وعبيد اللَه يتبعه

علوى المذكور في سمل

And Obaidullah following him

The mentioned Alawi in register

وعلى شيخنا وأتى

بالإمام الجامع الحفل

And upon our Shaykh who came with

The Imam the all-encompassing assembly

والفقيه الحبر عمدتنا

والعفيف المحسن البذل

And the jurist our pillar

The decent benefactor openhanded

لمواريث الرسول حووا

وأمير المؤمنين على

To the inheritances of the Messenger they held fast

And the Commander of the Faithful Ali

ومن السبطين قد ورثوا

ثم كم صبر وكم بدل

And from the two grandsons they inherited

Then how much patience and sacrifice

من أصول طهرت وزكت

من جميع الرجس والدخل

From roots purified and enhanced

From all filth and impurity

وفروع قد نمت وسمت

للعلا من غير ما جدل

And branches that grew and towered

To the heights without contention

هم أمان الأرض من فزع

وهداة الخلق للسبل

They are the land’s protection from turmoil

And guides of mankind to the paths

لذ بهم في كل نائبة

وادع ذا العرش بهم وسل

So take refuge in them in every adversity

And invoke the Owner of the Throne through them and pray

وصلاة اللَه دائمة

تتغشى خاتم الرسل

And may the prayers of God always

Envelop the Seal of Messengers

أحمد الهادي وعترته

ما سرى برق على القلل

Ahmad the Guide and his lineage

As long as lightning flashes on hills

وتغنى الورق في سحر

بغصون البان والأثل

And leaves rustle at dawn

On eglantine and jujube branches
