يا جيرة بالمعهد اليماني
متى التلاقي ومتى الداني
O neighbor at the Yemeni Institute
When will we meet and when will we be close?
إن الجفا والبعد قد عناني
وحل بي منه الذي كفاني
Estrangement and distance have overtaken me
And what is enough for me has befallen me
غزال حاجر بهجة المسامر
ونزهة الأرواح والنواظر
A gazelle that gladdens social gatherings
And delights souls and sights
فاقت على غزلان شعب عامر
جماله الموصوف قد سباني
Surpassing the beauty of gazelles in prosperous lands
Whose famed beauty has captivated me
من آل طه ومن آلا يس
والجانب الغربي وطور سينين
From the family of Taha and the family of Yasin
And the west side and Mount Sinai
هل أنت يا سيد الحسان تدرين
بما أقاسي وبما أعاني
Do you know, O master of beauty
What I suffer and endure?
لله يا معشوقة الجمال
لطيفة الأوصاف والدلال
By Allah, O beloved of beauty
Delicate in description and charm
تعطفي بالقرب والوصال
على حليف المطل والتواني
Show compassion with nearness and union
To the confidant of expectation and delay
إن الهوى في الصب قد تحكم
وتم من شأنه عليه ما تم
For passion has taken control in love
And what was destined has fully occurred
واللَه يعلم ما هنا وما ثم
وما الخبر يا صاح كالعيان
And Allah knows what is here and what is there
And news, my friend, is not like seeing
هذا الغزال الأهيف المكحل
ما أحسنه ما ألطفه ما أجمل
This adorable gazelle, kohl-lined
How good, gentle and beautiful it is
ما زال بالي في هواه مبلبل
طول المدى والوقت والزمان
It remains confused by me in its love
For long periods of time
ما ضره لو كان قد وصلني
بزورة تحيي الموات مني
It would not harm him if he had reached me
With a visit that brings the dead in me to life
ولم يخيب بالصدود ظني
ويشمت الحساد والشواني
And had not disappointed my hopes
Making the envious and maligners gloat
غزال يسكن في سفوح خيله
ويرتعي الأخياف والمسيله
A gazelle dwelling on the slopes of its horses
Grazing the meadows and valleys
ما لي إلى لقياه من وسيله
إلا الذي للحق قد دعاني
I have no means to meet it
Except what has led me to the truth
داعى الهدى والفوز والصلاح
إمام أهل الحق والفلاح
The caller to guidance, success and righteousness
The imam of the people of truth and prosperity
بحر الندى والجود والسماح
محمد المخصوص بالقرآن
Ocean of dew, generosity, and leniency
Muhammad, singled out for the Quran
