ما للفؤاد يفيض بالأكدار

فكأن فيه تلهبا من نار

What ails my heart that sorrows overflow

As if a fire burns within its depths so

ولمقلة عبراً تفيض دموعها

سحا كفيض الوابل المدرار

And tears stream from my eyelids in their woe

Like heavy rains that steadily downflow

زرنا على الأحباب لما فارقوا

وترحلوا عن مرجعي وجواري

We bid the loved ones farewell when they went

And journeyed from my land and neighborhood

وسرت بهم تجب الركائب ترتمي

وتؤم داراً بوركت من داري

The litters carried them, their curtains bent

To a house blessed, though far from where I stood

هذا الذي بعث الشجون وهاجها

وأصارني لا يستقر قراري

He who stirred up these passions and sorrows

And left me with no peace within my soul

يا حسرتي من بعدهم يا لوعتي

يا طول حزني لانتزاح مزاري

Alas for me when they left, such grievous loss

So long my sadness, distant is my goal

يا كربتي يا غربتي يا وحدتي

يا وحشتي يا حيرتي بقفاري

My turmoil, exile, solitude and fear

My wilderness, confusion, in waste so drear

لهفي على ظبي النقا ومحجري

وغزال نجد منتهى أوطاري

Yearning for the gentle doe and fawn

Roaming freely in places once held dear

مسكية الأنفاس ذات محاسن

تنمي اللبيب حميدة الآثار

The sweet scented breath of one with beauty

Who brings wisdom, leaves traces fair and fine

قد كان أنسى في الوجود وجودها

بشمائل مثل النسيم الساري

Whose being brought me comfort and duty

With features like a gentle morning breeze divine

لف الربوع وصار فيها آنسا

لا تعتبريه خواطر الأسفار

Until a changer from fate disturbed the scene

This world spins on with its decrees and laws

حتى أتاه من المقدر مزعج

والكون دوار مع الأقدار

So he traveled on, determined and keen

To the source of light, tidings and great cause

فمضى علي وجه السبيل ميمما

لمهابط الأنوار من بشار

And I remained, my spirit tossed about

Scattered in ecstasy, mysteries throughout

وبقيت مضطرب الجوانح بعده

منشوش الإعلان والأسرار

O gentle doe, return blessed, come back soon

Let our meeting bring life to what was devout

يا ظبي عيديد المبارك عودة

يحيا بها دنف أخو تذكار

Tears flow when darkness falls, remembering days

Of connection, innocence, all that was dear

تجري مدامعه إذا جن الدجا

ويحن بالآصال والأبكار

I grieve for you, with sorrow and dismay

Yet all affairs to The Creator adhere

أسفاً عليك وحسرة وتوجعاً

والأمر للَه العزيز الباري

O heart, do not despair, but show patience

Honorable through every circumstance dire

يا قلب لا تجزع وكن متصبراً

متوقراً في كل خطب طاري

Anticipating, expecting with resilience

Watching for the Almighty, noblest Sire

متنظراً متوقعاً متوجيا

مترقباً للطائف الجبار

The One, the King, Most High His Majesty

Continuous in kindness and in doing right

الواحد الملك الرفيع جل جلاله

متواصل الإحسان والإبرار

Merciful Lord who compensates fully

All that was lost with abundance and might

رب رحيم مخلف ومعوض

ما فات بالأَضعاف والإكثار

When events and calamities prove strange

Seek help from the chosen Prophet's range

وإذا الحوادث والخطوب تنكرت

فافزع إلى جاه النبي المختار

Mustafa, guide for people to guidance

Beauty of existence, best of all the saints

المصطفى هادي الأنام إلى الهدى

زين الوجود وخيرة الأخيار

Chosen and selected from Hashim's lineage

Ocean of dew, virtue he acquaints

المجتبي المنتقي من هاشم

بحر الندى والفضل والإيثار

Muhammad the Praised, whose stature is so high

Expanding the lands, the finest his traits

ومحمد المحمود ذي الجاه الذي

وسع البرايا سيد الأبرار

Best of all creation, refuge for those who try

Destroyer of tyrants and miscreants

خير الورى وملاذ كل مؤمل

ومدمر الطاغين والكفار

Who diminished the honored messengers, guide supreme

And last of them, this none can debate

ومعدم الرسل الكرام إمامهم

وختامهم من غير ما إنكار

The Generous Lord favored him with esteem

Pleasure, forgiveness, secrets so great

قد خصه الرب الكريم بقربه

ورضاه والغفران والأسرار

That night of ascension, when he rose sublime

To the Lofty Presence of the Almighty

وبليلة المعراج لما أن رقى

أعلى الذرى في حضرة القهار

With ranks, merits, virtues of that time

And means elevated, nothing slight He

ومراتب ومناقب وفضائل

ووسائل مرفوعة المقدار

My master, my support, my pillar true

My strength in ease and in adversity

يا سيدي يا سندي يا عمدتي

يا عدتي في يسرتي وعساري

My refuge in woes, my shelter anew

From fears and harms, O succor me

يا مفزعي عند الكروب وملجئي

عن الخطوب وخشية الإضرار

My protection, my might, my victory

My helper, my rescuer, stand by me

يا عصمتي يا قوتي يا نصرتي

يا منجدي يا منقذي يا جاري

O chief intercessor, come and see

I'm sunk in a sea of adversity

يا سيد الشفعاء أدركني فقد

أصبحت في بحر الأسا متواري

In nights of gloomy darkness I now dwell

Perplexed in thought, unsure what path to take

وعلى من ليل الغموم دجنة

أمسيت فيها حائر الأفكار

In my heart burns sorrow, like fires of hell

Since love and friends were lost, my spirit did break

وبقلبي الوجد الذي ما زال في

سودائه متأججاً كالنار

With few companions and supporters nigh

Help me, O Messenger, be my ally

من فرقة الأحباب والألاف لي

مع قلة الأعوان والأنصار

Defend me to the Merciful Lord for what wrong I did make

Ask Him to lift my duty and concerns

قم يا رسول اللَه بي وتولني

واشفع إلى الرحمن في أوزاري

Fulfill my needs and cover my sins

Reform my state, make my endings good

واسأله كشف مهمتي وملمتي

وقضاء حاجاتي وستر عواري

Guide my ending, my neighbors make amends

Grant me wellbeing, forgiveness and care

وصلاح حالتي وحسن قواقبي

وسداد خاتمتي وحسن جواري

Success complete, kindness ever near

Upon you, O guide to truth, blessings sent

ودوام عافية وعفو شامل

وكمال توفيق ولطف جاري

When the morning breeze blows gentle and clear

And to your family and companions fame

وعليك صلى اللَه يا علم الهدى

ما هبت النسمات بالأسحار

For all the birds that sing from every tree

والآل والصحب الكرام وتابع

ما غنت الأطيار في الأشجار
