عن جيرة الحي الذي تجاور

فالشوق قد أربى على السرائر

About the neighbor of the quarter who resides

For longing has grown upon my mind

وافيت ربعي يا نسيم الأسحار

من بعد ما نامت عيون الأغيار

And visited my place, O breeze of dawn

After the eyes of strangers fell asleep

عسى معك لي يا نسيم أخبار

عن الحبيب النازح المهاجر

Hopefully you have for me, O breeze, news

About the absent beloved emigrant

حب الأحبة في الفؤاد خيم

لا بل جرى مني مجرى الدم

Love of loved ones settled in my heart

No, but it flowed in me like blood

وكلما برق الحمى تبسم

فاضت دموع العين في المحاجر

And whenever fever flashed, I smiled

So the tears of my eyes overflowed in sorrow

مضى زماني في الجفا

ومدمعي قد خانني وصبري

My time has passed in estrangement

And my tears have betrayed me, and my patience

وضاق بالفرقة فسيح صدري

ما حيلتي كم شاء كون صابر

And my spacious chest narrowed with separation

What can I do, however long I remain patient

عسى عسى يا ساكنين نعمان

أن ينثني وقت الصفا الذي كان

Hope, hope O residents of Nu'man

That the time of pureness that was returns

وينكشف حال الأسى والأَشجان

بوصل ليلى بهجة المسامر

And the state of misery and anguish clears

With the company of Layla, joy of conversing

أنا الذي في حبها متيم

محزون مشجون الفؤاد مغرم

It is I who is infatuated in her love

Sorrowful, passionate of heart, enamored

فهل تراها يا نديم تعلم

بما بقلبي من هوى مخامر

So does she, O intimate friend, know

Of the love that resides in my thoughts

يا ساكنين السفح من فؤادي

وادي الندى يا خير كل وادي

O residents of the plain, from my heart

The valley of dew, O best of every valley

حيث المنادي يسمع المنادي

يا أهل البصائر حدقوا البصائر

Where the caller hears the caller

O people of insight, gaze with insight

هذا جمال الحق قد تجلى

ولم يكن محجوباً قبل كل

This is the beauty of truth manifest

And was not veiled before everything

لكن قلب العبد قد تخلى

شاهد وكانت منه السواتر

But the heart of the servant turned away

Witness, though it was hidden from him

طور التجلي قلب كل عارف

ومهبط الأسرار واللطائف

The moment of manifestation shocked every knower's heart

And the place of secrets and subtleties

والنفس موسى تشهد المعارف

مهما تجلت وأثبت الظواهر

And the soul witnessing the insights

However much manifest and proven the signs

والنفس مغناطيس أمر الإلهام

والروح مغناطيس كون الأجسام

And the soul a magnet for inspiration

And the spirit a magnet for physical forms

وذاك من بعد التوجه التام

بكل باطن وبكل ظاهر

And that after complete orientation

With every essence and every appearance

اللَه أكبر هذه الحقيقة

قد أَشرقت من مشرق الطريقة

God is Greater! This truth

Has shone from the rising place of the way

فامسك أخي بالعروة الوثيقة

وهي اتباعك سيد العشائر

So take, my brother, to the firmest handle

Which is your following the Master of Masters

محمد المبعوث بالهداية

والحق والتحقيق والولاية

Muhammad, sent with guidance

And truth, realization, and authority

إنسان عين الكشف والعناية

وروح معنى جملة المظاهر

The human eye of unveiling and care

And the spirit meaning all manifestations
