للرئيس الأجل من أمثالي
Had I been required to offer a gift
Worthy of the eminent President,
لنظمت النجوم عقداً إذا رصـ
ـع غيري جواهراً بلآلي
I would have strung the stars together
With gems not found in others' treasures,
ثم أهديتها إليه وأقرر
ت بعجزي في القول والأفعال
And offered this to him, acknowledging
My own inadequacy in word and deed.
غير أني رأيت قدرك يعلو
عن نظير ومشبه ومثال
Yet seeing your excellence has no equal,
No parallel, nor any match,
فتفاءلت في الهدية بالأقـ
ـلام علماً مني بصدق الفال
I ventured to offer in gift mere words,
Knowing their truth portends good fortune.
فاعتقدها مفاتح الشرق والغر
ب صريعاً والسهل والأجبال
Consider them keys to East and West,
Vanquishing mountains, plains and valleys.
فهي تستن إن جرين على القر
طاس بين الأرزاق والآجال
Test them in life's designs, in duty
And nobility and grace.
فاختبرها موقعاً برسوم الـ
ـبر والمكرمات والإفضال
Celebrate with a new era's splendor
Blessings that will never fade or falter.
واحظ بالمهرجان وابل جديد الد
هر في نعمة بغير زوال
Let glory's rising light endure, as fame
Exalts the eminent President.
وابق للمجد صاعد الجد عزاً
والرئيس الأجل نجم المعالي
In joy and bliss that leave the envious
Maimed and severed of their members.
في سرور وغبطة تدع الـ
ـحاسد منها مقطع الأوصال
Bolstered by Saud, serenity resides,
And safety fills the nights.
عضدتها السعود واستوطن الإقـ
ـبال فيها وسالمتها الليالي
O noble one, generous prince
Who begins with wisdom seeking knowledge,
أيها الماجد الكريم الذي يبـ
ـدأ بالعارفات فبل السؤال
Your abounding grace has shown me
How to tread the path of rhetoric.
إن آلاءك الجزيلة عندي
شرعت لي طريقة في المقال
You secured me from the harm of censure
And excess blaming and overburdening.
أمنتني لديك من هجنة الر
رد وفرط الإضجار والإملال
The rights of slaves are now required
Of masters, in each season of grace.
وحقوق العبيد فرض على السـ
ـادة في كل موسم للمعالي
While the life of praise remains
After the life of goods has passed.
وحياة الثناء تبقى على الدهـ
ـر إذا ما انقضت حياة المال
