تعاليت يا من لا نحيط به علما

ولا عنه نستقرى حدوداً ولا رسما

Come to me, O You whom we cannot encompass in knowledge,

Nor deduce limits or forms for You.

ومن لا يداني الحصر أدنى صفاته

ولا تفصل الأفهام في دركها حكما

And whom the confinement of the slightest of attributes cannot approach,

Nor can minds separate in comprehending You a ruling.

قديم بلا مبدا أخير بلا انتها

سميع بصير ليس روحاً ولا جسما

Eternal without a beginning, Last without an end,

All-Hearing, All-Seeing, not a soul nor a body.

كبت دونه الأفهام وانقطع الحجا

فما في قوى الافكار تمثيله وهما

Minds are frustrated below You and reasoning is cut off,

So there is not in the powers of thoughts, imagining You or fancy.

وما قدر مخلوق بعلم يحيطه

بخالقه والشمس تخفى على الاعمى

And no creature, with knowledge surrounding its Creator,

And the sun is hidden from the blind.

وأين مجال العقل والعقل صنعهُ

ففكرته في خلقه تأخذ العلما

And where is the scope for the mind when You created it?

So Your planning in Your creation takes the knowledge away.

وسائل به من حولَ المني مضغة

ومن أثبت الأعصاب واللحم والعظما

And the means around the embryo You chewed,

And the nerves, flesh and bones You instituted.

وأخرجه طفلا وأنشاه يافعا

وكهلا وشيخا بعد ما بلغ الحلما

And You brought it out as a fetus, and grew it as a youth,

Then as an adult and elder after reaching puberty.

وكذب به من قال ماثم خالق

سوى الخلق تكذيبا ورد أنفه رغما

He lied about You who said other than You is the Creator,

A lie and his nose is rubbed in spite.

أيخلق طفلا نفسه وهو نطفةٌ

وينشئها طوراً فطوراً فما تما

Does a fetus create itself and it is a drop,

And grow itself stage after stage so it is completed?

ويعجز كهل عن إعادة شعرةٍ

وعن دفعه عن نفسه الشيب والسقما

And an adult fails to recreate a hair

Or to deflect from himself gray hair and sickness?

لقد كذبوا بل خالق الخلق ربنا

فلا أب هذا في قواه ولا أما

No! They lied! The Creator of creation is our Lord

So this one has no father determining his traits nor a mother.

إلهي لا واخذتَنا بذنوبنا

وتب واعفون عن كل مرتكب اثما

My God do not take us to account for our sins

And turn in repentance and pardon every sinner.

إلهي إن الخلق خلقك فاكفهم

فقد وقعوا فيما أحطت به علما

My God, You created the creation so suffice them

For they have fallen into that which You enveloped in knowledge,

من الجهد واللأواء والشدة التي

بها مات من قد مات من فقده العلما

From hardship, affliction, and severity by which died

Those who died from loss of knowledge.

إلهي اسقنا غيثاً مغيثاً مرجعاً

هنيئاً مريئاً مغدقا طبقا عما

My God, send us a helpful, returning, pleasant rain,

Pouring copiously, benefiting the people, not harming them.

وتابع به في كل واد ابته

دراكاً بسيل ينفع الناس لادهما

And direct it to every valley flowing

To the people’s settlements, not their tombs.

وبالك لنا في الزرع والضرع والكلا

واضحك بزهر الأرض منظرها الجهما

And bless for us the plants, livestock and crops,

And smile on the blossoms of the land with flowering meadows.

ووال بها الأمطار وامرع به الربا

وارخص لنا الأَسعار واستأصل الأزما

And moisten it with rains and make the pastures lush,

And make prices affordable for us and root out inflation.

أغث هذه الطرحا من الجوع والضنى

على الطرق عجزاً واكس أعظمهم لحما

Relieve these starving and needy from hunger and scarcity

Lying incapable on the roads, and clothe the poorest with meat.

فقد مست الضراء وانقطع الرجا

من الخلق إلا منك ياواسع النعما

For misery has touched them and hope in the people has gone

Except You, O Most Generous.

أغثنا أغثنا فالوجوه تناكرت

وقد قطع الأرحام أقربهم رحما

Save us, save us! Faces have become unrecognizable

And wombs have been cut off from their closest kin.

وقم بغنا بعض عن البعض لا تكل

إلى ابن اباً يوما ولا ابن أخ عما

And provide for us instead of each other, do not entrust

A father to a son or nephews to an uncle.

فليس لها من دونك اليوم كاشفٌ

يفرّج عن هذا الورى هذه الغما

For apart from You they have no unveilers this day

To relieve this creation of its worries.

وما في غنى من يختشي العدم مقنع

لمن رزقه في كفّ من لم يخف عدما

And the wealthy fearing poverty cannot satisfy

Those whose sustenance is from the palm that does not fear scarcity.

وإنك يا رباه أَحنى على الورى

إذا أهلكوا بالذنب أنفسهم ظلما

And You, my Lord, are most merciful to creation

When they wrong themselves with sins, unjustly.

تريد بهم خيراً إِذا ما امتحنتهم

وتخفي لهم فيما رأوا غرمه غنما

You mean them good when You test them

And You hide for them gain in that which they saw as loss.

تذكر بالمكروه عبدا فيرعوي

إذا بات بالمحبوب ناسٍ لما تما

You admonish a servant forgetting amidst what he loves

If people spent the night with what they sought unfulfilled.

إلهي تدارك مسنين تعرقت

عظاما عليهم هذه السنة القتما

My God, save shivering elders

Whose bones expired in this severe year.

إلهي نحن المذنبين ولم تزل

تجود وتعطي من عصاك العطا الجما

My God, we are the sinners but You never ceased

To grant and give from Your most plentiful grace.

إلهي جزنا كل حد ولم نجز

حدوداً بهن العفو لا يسع الجرما

My God, we exceeded every limit but did not limit

Limits with which pardoning cannot contain the sins.

إلهي هب منا مسيئا لمحسن

وجاف لكاف وارحم الطفل والعجما

My God, protect the evildoer of the benefactor

And the ungrateful from the grateful, and have mercy on the child and non-Arab.

فإنك تعفو عن ذنوبٍ كثيرةٍ

وترزق من يعصي وتمهله حلما

For You pardon abundant sins

And grant provisions to the disobedient, giving them time.

إلهي أرسلت الرياح لواقحا

اعاصيرها تسقي وبعد التراب الما

My God, You sent gales impregnating

Their storms to irrigate, after the dust dispersed the water.

الهي عجلنا فاسقنا واحم بعضنا

عن البعض بالسلطان وارفع بهِ الظلما

My God, hasten us and quench our thirst, and protect

Some of us from others through authority, lifting injustice.

أعنه على ما أنت ترضاه وارضه

عن الخلق وارض عنه وزد في ما

Assist him in what You approve and make him pleased

With the people, and make them pleased with him, and increase what is with him.

وزده إلهي صلاحٍ ورحمة

وفك به الأسرى وفرّج به الهمّا

And increase for him, my God, righteousness and mercy,

And through him relieve the captives and relieve worries.
