1. I marvel at a pupil content with the vilest religious way,

    turning to the vilest shaykh—an unbeliever in the Sacred Law.

  2. He holds the Creator to be the creature—a banner of our faith—

    and deems whoever denies this ignorant of the Truth.

  3. And in one who worships the All-Merciful he sees no

    superiority over an idol-worshiper, no distinguishing merit.

  4. So if you curse the shaykh who utterly disbelieves in his Lord,

    do not reckon the returning of a curse as coming from his pupil.
