1. جمع الملا يحيى على القرآنِ

    متتبعاً لمراضيَ الرحمن

    Sheikh Yahya gathered to recite the Quran

    Following the pleasures of the Merciful

  2. ومعظماً لشعائر الله التي

    أمر الإِله بهنَّ في رمضانِ

    And honoring the rituals of Allah which

    The God commanded during Ramadan

  3. فنهارهُ صومٌ وأما ليلَه

    فعلى استماعِ تلاوةِ القرآنِ

    So its day is fasting, and as for its night

    It is listening to the recitation of the Quran

  4. يا أكرمَ الخلفا وأسعدَ من سعى

    في موجباتٍ العفو والغفران

    O the most generous caliph and the happiest who strove

    For the causes of pardon and forgiveness

  5. أبشرْ برضوان الإِله ولم يكنْ

    يعطى امرأ خيراً من الرضوان

    Receive good tidings of the pleasure of God, and there was not

    A man given better than pleasure

  6. إِن الكريم مع الكريم ولم يكن

    في سائرِ الكرما ليحيى ثان

    Indeed the generous is with the generous, and there was not

    Among all the generous except Yahya again

  7. كَلاّ ولا ملكٌ حوى ما قد حوى

    لا في عربهم كلاَّ ولا العِجمانِ

    No, and no king contained what he contained

    Neither among the Arabs, no, nor the non-Arabs

  8. لا فخر إِلاَّ ما عليه أتاوة

    تحيى لفخرِك يا عظيمَ الشانِ

    There is no pride but that which lies upon it

    Exaltation revives your pride O great glory

  9. جعل الإله الملك ملكاً فيكم

    متوارثاً من قادم الأزمانِ

    God made the kingdom a kingdom through you

    Inherited from the coming of time

  10. من قبل تبّع وهو جدك إِنكم

    في الأرض سلطانٌ ورا سلطانِ

    From before Tubba and he is your grandfather, you

    On earth are sultan after sultan

  11. فملوكها في الجاهلية أنتمُ

    ولأنتم الخلفاءُ في الإيمان

    So their kings in the Pre-Islamic Period are you

    And you are the caliphs in faith

  12. لم يجعل الله الخلافةَ والعلا

    فيكم لمعنى كان بل لمعاني

    God did not make the caliphate and elevation

    Among you for a reason that was, but for meanings

  13. فحلومُكُم مثل الجبال رزانةً

    وأكفكم عنها البحار دواني

    So your resolves are like mountains in composure

    And your palms spare them the seas going around

  14. وعقولكم مما استطال كمالُها

    تزنُ الرجال لكم بلا ميزانَ

    And your minds are of what its perfection has risen high

    Weighing men for you without a scale

  15. الأصل رأسٌ والفروع مع السما

    فقديمُكم وحديثُكم سيّانِ

    The origin is a head and the branches with the sky

    So your ancient and your modern are equal

  16. من عدّ في الابا الملوك ثلاثة

    فاعددْ ثمانيناً لهِ وثمانِ

    If one counts in the fathers the kings three

    Then count for him eighty and eight

  17. تضع الملوك إذا افتخرتَ رؤوسها

    وتقولُ ليسَ لنا بذاك يدانِ

    Kings lay down their heads when you boast

    And say we have no hand in that

  18. لكمَ الخيولَ الصافناتُ تخيّرت

    وبكم عرفن معاقدَ التيجانِ

    For you are the thoroughbred horses, carefully chosen

    And by you the crowns of the turbans are known

  19. ما منكر خرقَ العوائدِ من فتىً

    هذي حلاه وهو من غسّانِ

    No stranger breached the conventions, no young man

    This is his ornament and he is from Ghassan

  20. تطوي البلادَ إذا هممت بغارة

    طي السِّجل برا حتىْ عجلانِ

    You wrap the lands when you intend a raid

    Folding the parchment till Ajloun

  21. ويغرُّ منك بعد مطاره

    فينامُ عنك ولستَ بالوسنانِ

    And he is deluded by you after his flight

    So he sleeps from you and you are not old

  22. فإِذا نزلتَ عليه ساءَ صباحُهُ

    ومبيتُه بالمنذرِ العريانِ

    So when you descend upon him, his morning is miserable

    And his overnight stay with the bare warnings

  23. أينَ المفرُّ من العشاءِ إذا غشا

    والليلُ موجودٌ بكلِ مكانِ

    Where is escape from the evening meal when it envelopes

    And the night present in every place

  24. سعدٌ فجعتْ به العِدا رأوا به

    ما لم يكن سمعوه بالآذان

    Happy, so the enemies cried over him

    What they had not heard with their ears

  25. من كانَ نصرُ الله قائدَ جيشهِ

    فعدوهُ في شقوةٍ وهوانِ

    Whoever has God's victory lead his army

    His enemy is in misery and humiliation

  26. هذا وفي الطاعات حظك وافرٌ

    لم تلهك الدنيا عن الأديانِ

    And this while in devotions your share is ample

    The life did not distract you from religions

  27. ما مرَّ يومٌ منك إلاَّ حاملٌ

    ثقلاً من الحسناتِ والإِحسانِ

    No day passed from you except bearing

    A burden of good deeds and benefaction

  28. وجمعت أعيان البلاد على الهدى

    وخَصصتهمُ بعنايةٍ وجنانِ

    And you gathered the chieftains of the countries on guidance

    And singled them out with care and gardens

  29. حملا على التقوى وتلكَ تجارةٌ

    أولتهم ربحاً بلا خسرانِ

    Bearing on piety, and that is trade

    You gave them profit without loss

  30. يا ايها القرّا ويامن خلفهم

    من ساجدين تخرُّ للأذقانِ

    O you who led them and o you who followed them

    Bowing foreheads to the carpets

  31. يهنيكمُ الفوزُ العظيم بليلةٍ

    ختمتْ بمسكِ الختم للقرآنِ

    Good fortune congratulates you on the great victory in a night

    That concluded with the seal of the Quran recitation

  32. هي ليلةَ القدرِ التي قال النبي

    أَنسيتها لكن كنتُ أراني

    It is the Night of Destiny which the Prophet said

    I forgot it but it seemed I saw

  33. في صبح ليلتها أصلى ساجداً

    لله بين الماء والأطيانِ

    In the morning of its night praying prostrated

    To God between the water and the clay

  34. قالوا رأيناه يصلي هكذا

    في ثالث العشرين من رمضانِ

    They said we saw him pray thus

    On the twenty-third of Ramadan

  35. أَخلصتمُ لله فيه طاعةً

    فخذوا جوائزكم من الرحمنِ

    You were sincere to God in it obedience

    So take your rewards from the Merciful

  36. لو تعلمون وأين مبلغُ عِلمكم

    من فضلِ جودِ الواهبِ المنّانِ

    If you knew and where is the extent of your knowledge

    From the grace of the Generous Giver's bounty

  37. مدّوا أكفكُمُ ليحى بالدَعا

    الطاهر بن الأشرفِ السلطانِ

    Stretch your palms to supplicate

    The Pure son of the Noble Sultan

  38. من لفَّ شملكمَ على مرضاته

    فدعاه كلٌّ منكم بلسانِ

    He who gathered your accord upon His pleasure

    So each of you supplicated for him with the tongue

  39. إِنّ الإِله يحبهُ ويحبُّ من

    يدعو له ليثابَ بالغُفرانِ

    Indeed God loves him and loves whoever

    Supplicates for him to be rewarded with forgiveness

  40. أبقاكَ ربك آمراً في خلقهِ

    ناهٍ عن الفحشاءِ والطغيانِ

    Your Lord kept you commanding among His creation

    Abstaining from vulgarity and tyranny

  41. تغشاكَ منه كلَّ يوم رحمةٌ

    وعوافياً تأوي إِلى الأبدانِ

    Mercy from Him envelops you every day

    And well-being that takes to the bodies
