Our eyes were envious of you
When your beauty and elegance appeared
Haifa thinks her face is the morning sun
She rose and thinks her stature is a branched palm tree
She appears and her light dispels the darkness of night
You'd think the night was a bright morning between us
She walks erect, so when she remembers her stature
That bending is the trait of the branch, it bent
Oh you who blame me, by God you have not been fair to me
In what you blame while you are ignorant of what is here
You advise turning eyes away from one who, if she appeared
Would make gazing at her our habit
She has never angered me except once
When I said "I sacrifice myself for you" and she said "No, I do"
I sought her satisfaction with what offends my hearing
And causes me to be secretive and sad
I have not ceased, since I rode off with my loved ones
And you prevented me from sleeping, to let our tears flow
Asking leave of the beloved, if he would enter the abodes
Of my eyes, but my tears refuse to permit it
If your phantom plunged into the seas of my tears
My plunge into the sea of Yahya's generosity makes it possible
He gave until the visitors thought
It was a dream, and they kept wiping their eyes
And some of them said to others, "You
Are awake, and all this is a gift to us"
No state remains for any king after her
That qualifies for clear praises
