1. ألقى على كرسيهِ أجسادا

    مولاه تذكرة له وأَعادا

    He threw bodies upon his throne

    As a reminder to him, and he repeated

  2. وإذا أحبَّ الله عبداً زادهٍ

    بالامتحان له هدى ورشادا

    And if God loves a servant, He increases him

    With trials, guidance and righteousness

  3. ما ضاع ما يمسى عليه محافظاً

    أعنى الصلاة وتلكم الأورادا

    Nothing is lost that is under protection in the evening

    I mean the prayers and litanies

  4. ولقد علمت وقد علمنا أَنه

    لسواك مكة لا تكون بلادا

    And we knew, and you knew, that

    Except you, Mecca, no place can be a homeland

  5. عادت وأَنت بها أَحق وأَهلها

    تشكي البعاد وتنقص الأجدادا

    It has returned while you are in it, most deserving and its people

    Complain of separation and lack of ancestors

  6. ما الغابَ إلاّ للهزبر ولا يرى

    للبدر في غير السما تردادا

    Nothing was absent but for preparation, and the full moon does not see

    In any sky but its own, repetition

  7. مهلاً بنى حسن فما حسن بكم

    الا ترى حسن بكم استادا

    Wait, O sons of Hassan, for the beauty in you

    Can you not see the beauty in you as a pillar?

  8. هو حظكم والحظ إن فات امرؤ

    وجفاه أوسعه الزمانُ عِنادا

    It is your fortune, and if fortune misses a man

    And deserts him, time makes up for it with obstinacy

  9. ما الترك تاركة أنوفاً شمخاً

    حتى تدوم بذلةٍ وتفادا

    The Turks did not leave the lofty noses

    Until they endured humiliation and evasion

  10. من لم يقده في البرية سيدٌ

    من قومه أودى به من قادا

    Whoever is not led in the wilderness by a leader

    Of his people, is destroyed by whoever leads

  11. عودوا على أحسابكم وتداركوا

    عزاً بكم قد مات أَو قد كادا

    Return to your accounts and make up

    For glory through you that died or almost died

  12. هذا التخاذلُ بينكم صرتم به

    عون لكم عون على من عادا

    This defeatism among you has made you

    A help to those who opposed you

  13. فصلوا عرى رحم نهى عن قطعها

    من لم يخلّف منكمُ أولادا

    Reconcile the ties of womb-relations whose severance is forbidden

    Whoever among you did not leave behind children

  14. ولكم موال قال فيهم أَنهم

    كنفوسكم يعني بها القوادا

    And you have masters, of whom it is said

    They are like your own souls, meaning leaders

  15. ما فات فات فاشتروا لعيالكم

    وتواصلوا لا تشمتوا الحسادا

    What is lost is lost, so buy for your families

    And keep in touch, do not let the envious gloat

  16. ما في افتراق القول إلا أنه

    يوهيكم ويقوّم الأضدادا

    In divergence of opinion there is only

    Weakness for you and empowerment of enemies

  17. لا تصبحوا كالنار يأكل بعضها

    من بعضها حتى تصير رمادا

    Do not become in the morning like fire, some of it

    Eating some of it until it becomes ashes

  18. وليرعَ بعضكم لبعض حقهُ

    إِ ن التّجافي يورثُ الأحقادا

    And let some of you fulfill the rights of others

    For estrangement begets hatreds

  19. وامشوا على الآثار من أسلافكم

    من زاد في الإِنصاف زيد ودادا

    And walk in the steps of your ancestors

    Who increased in justice, increased affection

  20. العفوُ والصفحُ الجميل نوالكم

    لا بغي أورثتم ولا إفسادا

    Forgiveness and pardon are your assets

    Not injustice you inherited or corruption you began

  21. وحميةَ الجهال قد ماتت بكم

    فحذارِ ان تحيى بكم وتعادا

    And ignorant zealotry has died in you

    So beware if you revive it and repeat it

  22. ما العارُ في الحلم الذي يطفي اللظى

    وتزيده أمواهه إخمادا

    There is no shame in the clemency that calms fury

    And its gentleness increases its extinguishment

  23. العارُ في جهل تثير رياحهُ

    نار العدى ويزيدها إيقادا

    The shame is in the ignorance that arouses

    The winds of enmity’s fire and kindles it more

  24. حسن لكم عزٌ إذا ما سادكَم

    تهوى البيوت إِذا عدمنَ عمادا

    Good for you is honor when you are led

    By one who aspires for houses when columns are lacking

  25. لا تفلح الأَشيا بغيرِ مدبّرٍ

    عدم البقا قوم عدوا امدادا

    Affairs do not prosper without an arranger

    The lack of permanency of a people who counted on supplies

  26. ودعوا الرياسةَ منكم لمؤملٍ

    يعتادُ أن لا يخلفَ الميعادا

    And leave the leadership among you to one hopeful

    Who is wont not to miss the appointed time

  27. وله من الله المهيمنِ عادةٌ

    الله مجريه على ما اعتادا

    And from God, the Overseer, he has the habit

    Of God making him proceed as he is wont

  28. لا تطمعوا في أن يكون صلاحكم

    بالاختلاف الموجب الإِفسادا

    Do not covet that your correction be

    Through differing, which causes corruption

  29. إن الضلالة لا تجرُّ إِلى هدى

    والغيُّ لا يجدي عليك رشادا

    Verily misguidance does not lead to guidance

    And deviation does not avail you advice

  30. الملك يؤتيهِ المهيمنُ من يشا

    والحرصُ منك يزدك عنهُ بعادا

    Sovereignty is granted by the Overseer whom He wills

    And greed distances you further from it

  31. خلّو الرياسة للذي جعلت له

    وارضوا وكونوا للإِله عِبادا

    Leave the leadership to the one for whom it

    Was made, and consent, and be worshipers of God
