1. يا بحر قلدت أخاك البحرا

    صنيعة ليست تحد شكرا

    O sea, you have imitated your brother sea

    An act not worthy of thanks

  2. هيات للنَّبتِ السباخ حوله

    حتى رأينا رياضا خضرا

    Look at the plants growing around it

    We saw green meadows

  3. تجاوب الأطيار في أرجائها

    مثل الرواة المنشدين شعرا

    The birds sing in its outskirts

    Like narrators reciting poetry

  4. وكلما ميل عطف دوحه

    نسيمه خلت الغصون سكرى

    Whenever its shore leans to the side

    Its breeze makes the branches drunk

  5. رق بها برد النسيم بعدما

    كان يمج الفيض فيها خمرا

    It became gentle with the coolness of the breeze, after

    The abundance used to flow in it like wine

  6. سعد بيعد المستحيل ممكنا

    والعسر في الأمر العظيم يسرا

    Saad made the impossible possible

    And hardship in the great matter easy

  7. فغير بدع سفل البحر به

    لو شئت بحرا لشققت بحرا

    So it is no wonder that it changed the bottom of the sea with it

    If you wished, you could have split the sea into seas

  8. أما ترى هذى الرياحين التي

    أنبت منها في السباخ بذرا

    Don't you see these winds

    With which seeds were planted in the marsh

  9. أبدت يا ملك الملوك صنعها

    بقدرة حيرت فيها الفكرا

    They showed, O King of Kings, their making

    With a power that confused minds

  10. من ظن في أرض الجبال أنه

    يطلع في شاطىء البحار تمرا

    Who would think that in the land of mountains

    Dates would grow on the seashore

  11. ومن درى بان ورد ظله

    يقوى على حر الهجير صبرا

    And who knows that its rose's shade

    Can withstand the heat of al-Hijr

  12. سعدك قد أحدث في طباعها

    قوى فما تعد حرا حرا

    Your happiness made its nature strong

    So it is no longer hot, hot

  13. لا بد أن يمدها فراسخا

    يسير من يسير فيها شهرا

    It has to extend parasangs

    One who walks in it a month walks easily

  14. فليفخر الشوجين ما شاء فقد

    طال على الدنيا جميعا فخرا

    So let al-Shaujin boast as much as he wants, he has

    Boasted about the whole world anyway

  15. ما أطيب الظل الظليل والهوى

    فيه وما اهنا هما وامرا

    How good is its shady shade and passion

    In it, and how easy they make matters

  16. جمعت ضدين به ما اجتمعا

    في غيره من البلاد طرا

    It combines two opposites that never

    Combined anywhere else

  17. حرارة الجو وما يعدلها

    ظلا ظليلا وجنانا خضرا

    The heat of its weather, and what equals it

    Of shady, shady shade, and green gardens

  18. وأعينا تجرى إذا خالطها إِلا

    نسان أنشت فيه روحا أخرى

    And eyes flow if mixed with it, except

    Souls that enliven it

  19. لا كمياه إذا ترقرقت

    رأيت منها الجسم مقشعرا

    Not like water when it ripples

    You see the body shudder

  20. ولا كظل في بلاد كلما

    دنا إلى الإِنسان شبراً فرا

    Nor like shade in countries, whenever

    It comes near man by a cubit, it flees

  21. سكانها لا يعرفون بينهم

    لطيب أنفاس النسيم قدرا

    Its inhabitants do not know between them

    The value of the scented breeze

  22. وهل لهبات النسيم قيممة

    عند مقيم بنواحي الخضرا

    And how can the flames of the breeze be valued

    By one staying in green plains?

  23. هيهات ما هذى وهاتيك سوى

    وأنت مني بالحديث أدرى

    No, no! This and that are not equal

    And you know my words better than me

  24. هذى جنان الخلد لا شك أتت

    مسافة وهي إليك تترى

    This is the garden of immortality, no doubt

    It came from a distance and you can see it

  25. وهذه نخيلها قد طلعت

    مثل العذارى محليات تبرا

    And these are its palm trees that have born fruit

    Like maidens, adorned

  26. قد جردت قدودها وقلدت

    عقودها جيدا لها ونحرا

    They have undressed their trunks and worn

    Necklaces for them, and collar

  27. وزادها زهوا نضيد طلعها

    ما بين حمراء وبين صفرا

    And the brightness of their newborn increased their pride

    Reddish and yellowish

  28. وهذه أعنابها قد نشرت

    أثوابها الخضر عليها نشرا

    And these are its grapes that have spread

    Their green clothes over them

  29. وقد تدلت بقطوف قد دنت

    يهصرها الطفل إليه هصرا

    And clusters have dangled, almost ripe

    For a child to pick and nibble

  30. ودبج الروض الؤياح وشيها

    منمم الرقم يكاد يقرا

    The meadow has been embroidered and dotted

    With lined patterns, it can almost speak

  31. والزهر من فرط السرور ضاحك

    يفتر عن مثل الجمان ثغرا

    And the flowers are laughing joyfully

    Baring teeth like pearls

  32. وللرياحين على اختلافها

    ملابس تختال فيها فخرا

    And the winds in their diversity

    Wear clothes boasting about them

  33. والنرجس الغض يغض طرفه

    فينظر الورد إليه شزرا

    And the green narcissus lowers its eyelid

    Looking coyly at the rose

  34. وللشقيق حلة يلبسها

    مصبوغة مثل العقيق حمرا

    And the anemone wears a dress

    Dyed red like carnelian

  35. ولبسه المنثور قد لونها

    وجدد الصبغ به وطرا

    And the jasmine that colors it

    Renewing the dye thereby, and aroma

  36. هذا الذي يحيى السرور عنده

    ويبعث الأشجان منه الذكرا

    This that revives joy in it

    And awakens passions and remembrance

  37. وزانها القصر الذي شيدته

    فيها على رأس السها والشعرى

    And its palace that was built

    Atop the peak of Sah and Sha'ra

  38. شرف من حافاته تفيُّؤ

    يجر أذيال الغصون جرا

    Its glory peering

    Trailing the skirts of branches trailing

  39. فاسكن على اسم الله في الدار التي

    أصبحت تستخدم فيها الدهرا

    So live, in God's name, in the house

    That you have made time reside in forever

  40. الدار دار السعد فيها نجمه

    وجدد البشر بها والبشرا

    The house, Saad's house, its star in it

    People and good tidings were renewed in it

  41. واسعة لا يبرح الطرف بها

    مسافرا يسرح فيها سرا

    Spacious, sight does not stop roaming in it

    A traveller roaming pleasantly in it

  42. بهو بهى ورواق رائق

    ومجلس كبالبحر يحوى البحرا

    With a beautiful courtyard and elegant porch

    And majlis as vast as the sea, containing the sea

  43. قد عقد الله على عقوده

    تلك المعالي وحباك النصرا

    God has ordained its greatness

    And granted you victory

  44. وأسفر الأنسن به عن طلعة

    تملا حواليك القلوب بشرا

    And people rejoiced at its rising

    Filling hearts around you with glad tidings

  45. تزدحم الأفراح في حافاته

    عليك لا تسطيع عنك صبرا

    Joys cram its outskirts upon you

    You cannot be patient with yourself

  46. وكلمات استقبلت فيها نعمة

    سجدت لله عليها شكرا

    And whenever you received a blessing in it

    You prostrated to God in thanks

  47. فاقطع بها شهر الصيام وادعا

    وَأَنأَ عن اللّذّات فيها الفطرا

    So spend in it the month of Ramadan, and call

    And abstain from pleasures in it

  48. ودافع العزم بعشر بعده

    وقطع الأيام عشرا عشرا

    And set off with determination the ten after it

    And cross the days, ten by ten

  49. وانه المشير أن يشر بهجرها

    فمثلها لا يستحق هجرا

    And advise its separation, for the like of it

    Does not deserve separation

  50. وقل له يستغفر الله فما

    عندي امرؤ أعظم منه وزرا

    And say to it, may God forgive, for I have

    No person with greater sins than it

  51. ومن على الدهر بما تامره

    يطعك إما راضيا أو قسرا

    And whoever you order of time

    Obeys you, willingly or forcibly

  52. واستخدم الاقدار فيما تشتهي

    إذا فما تعصى عليك أمرا

    And make fate serve what you desire

    For no command is disobeyed by it
