1. قدمتَ قدوماً كان أشهى إِلى الناس

    من الغوث بعد الاستغاثة والياسِ

    You came in a way that was more desirable to people

    Than rain after pleading and despair

  2. فحل زبيد الأنس من بعد وحشة

    وبيت الحسين الوحش من بعد إيناسِ

    So the intimacy of the people of Zabid returned after desolation

    And the isolated house of al-Hussein after companionship

  3. فارضٌ تليها أكرم الأرض بقعةً

    وساكن أرض زرتها أسعد الناسِ

    A land whose piece of ground is the most generous of lands

    And whose inhabitant of the land you visited is the happiest of people

  4. قدمت فودّت إذ تلقاك أهلها

    بان تتلقاكم وتسعى على الراس

    You came, so it loved when its people met you

    Trying to meet you and rushing to your head

  5. وأقبلت والأفراح تفعل في الورى

    كما فعلت في شارب سورة الكاسِ

    And you came while joys in existence

    Did like what it did to the drinker of the cup’s surah

  6. تساير نصر الله والمجد والعلا

    وتصبحَ منهم جالساً بين جلاّسِ

    Accompanying God’s victory, glory, and supremacy

    And you spend your mornings sitting among those who sit together

  7. ففي كل دار فرجة ومسرة

    كأنك آذنت العذارى بأعراسِ

    So in every house there is relief and joy

    As if you permitted the virgins for marriage

  8. وأكرمِ بيوم أكرم الله خلقَه

    بقربك منهم فيه يا بن عبّاسِ

    Honor with the day God honored His creation the most

    With your nearness to them in it, O Son of Abbass

  9. لقد عاد في أرض الحصيب جمالها

    كما عاد في بيت ضياء بنبراسِ

    Beauty really returned to the land of Al-Husayb

    As light returned to the house of Dhiya’a bin Nabrass

  10. وقد تفهمت من سقمها حيث زرتها

    وزال الذي تشكو من البؤس والباس

    And I understood from its illness when you visited it

    And the misery and affliction it complains of disappeared

  11. فقل لزبيد أنت في الأرض جنةٌ

    وجنةُ عدنٍ لا تقاس بمقياسِ

    So tell Zabid you are a paradise on earth

    And a paradise of Eden that cannot be measured

  12. فما الخوف من بعد يزيدك رغبةً

    لدى واقع في ضرة ذات أعباس

    So do not fear after Yazeed's growing greed

    When facing adversity from frowning faces

  13. يراها فيغربه بحسنك قبحها

    ويذكر والتذكير قد ينفع الناسي

    He sees it so its ugliness astounds him because of your beauty

    And he remembers though remembering may benefit people

  14. وليس يضر الريح عالٍ من البنا

    وقد أحكمت أرجاؤه فوق أساسِ

    And wind does no harm to a firmly rooted building

    When its corners have been firmly built on foundations

  15. هنيئاً مريئاً قرب أحمد فابشري

    بغيث مغيث واكف القطر رجّاسِ

    Congratulations visible, near Ahmad so receive good news

    With a beneficial rain, and restrain the pouring rain

  16. ترى السحب فيه ساحبات ذيولها

    كما سحبت أرسانها دهم أفراسِ

    You see the clouds in it dragging their tails

    As its steeds dragged their spears and rushed

  17. وما الُملكُ بعد الله إلا لأحمدٍ

    وما هو إلا نائب الله في الناسِ

    And the kingdom after God is only for Ahmad

    And he is only God's deputy among people

  18. ولما تراخى العيشُ وانجاب عيثر

    وأجلى اليقين الشك من بعد الياسِ

    And when life slackened and ruin begot ruin

    And certainty eliminated doubt after despair

  19. ومدَّ إِليه الناظرون عيونَهم

    فمن ثابت يثني ومن ذاهلٍ ناسي

    Those who look turned their eyes toward him

    So whoever is steadfast turns back and whoever is oblivious forgets

  20. وكات رجالً أن تطير قلوبها

    فدع كل بيضاء الترائب منعاس

    And it was men whose hearts would fly away

    So leave every hen harrier to its drowsiness

  21. كفاك إِله العرش ما كان يتقي

    ويحذر من أنواع سوء وأجناس

    May the God of the Throne protect you from what was feared

    And warned of different kinds of evil and vermin
