شكوى الهدى وتعلق الإسلام

بك ليس أضغاثا من الأحلام

The guidance’s complaint and clinging to Islam

Is to you not nonsense dreams

أتخاف ضيما يا خليفة أحمد

في دار ملكك ملة الإسلام

Do you fear injustice, O Caliph Ahmad

In the abode of your kingdom, the nation of Islam

لا والذي أعطاك من سلطانه

ملكا أعاد محاسن الأيام

No, by He who gave you from His sovereignty

A kingdom that restored the beauty of days

لك غيرة والله قد أوذي فما

منك امرؤ أولى بحسن قيام

You have zeal, by Allah you were wronged, so not

A man is more deserving of excellent undertaking

كم من ملوك طوائف لم يولهم

مولاك ما أولاك من أنعام

How many rulers of factions were not given by

Your Master what He gave you of blessings

فالشكر للرحمن ان تمسى به

كلفا تذب عن الهدى وتحامى

So thanks to the Merciful if you spend the night with Him

As a duty protecting guidance and guarding

يا أيها الملك المحب لدينه

الحاني عليه حنوَّ ذي الأرحام

O leader loving his religion

Being gentle to it, tenderness of close relatives

يا أحمدا يا نجل إسمعيل يا

فرع الملوك وكل أصل نامي

O Ahmad, O son of Ismael, O

Branch of kings and every growing origin

ألسنة البيضا تقاعد أهلها

في نصرها زمنا عن الإِقدام

The tongues of the white men refrained their people

From supporting it a time from undertaking

وتخاذلوا لا رقة في دينهم

بل خيفة نشأت من الأوهام

And they were cowardly, no faithfulness in their religion

Rather fear arose from delusions

وما أثر الخصم المليك عليهم

لكنهم ابتوا من الاحجام

And not the effect of the kingly opponent upon them

But they decided abstinence from undertaking

ولربما لم يدر أكثرهم بما

أولى الفصوص الدين من آلام

And maybe most of them don’t know what

The clear religion suffered of pains

ولكم لبثت وما يمر بمسمعي

كفر يشاع ولا قبيح كلام

And how long I remained and nothing passed my hearing

Open disbelief or an ugly saying

حتى تهافت في الضلالة معشر

وتحزبوا في هذه الأيام

Until a group went astray into misguidance

And banded together in these days

كان الأسى من أجل حرمة مسجد

هتكت بأمر مقدم الحكام

The sorrow was because of the sanctity of a mosque

Violated by order of the prominent leaders

عزت إهانته علينا إذا أتت

من حيث يرجى الأمر بالإِكرام

Its dishonor weighed upon us if it came

From where kindness is expected in command

وإذا بمن قد قال هذى قطرة

أنكرتها من جنب بحر طامي

And thereupon one who said this a drop

I denied it alongside a turbulent sea

القوم للباري تعرض جهلهم

حتى ادعوه يحل في الأجسام

The people by their ignorance opposed

The Creator until they claimed He settles in bodies

فالمرء منهم لا يفرق بينه

أبداً وبين الله في الأحكام

So the person among them does not differentiate Him

Ever from Allah in rulings

فأردت إنكارا عليه فقال لي

اقرأ نصوصهم وعد لملامي

So I wanted denouncement but he said to me

Read their texts and count my blemishes

فقرأته فرأيت امراً راعني

ومآثما زادت على الآثام

So I read it and I saw a matter that startled me

And sins increased upon sins

ومقال كفر في العبادة عنده

لا فرق بين الله والأصنام

And words of disbelief in worship according to it

No difference between Allah and idols

وإذا رجال في هواه تهالكوا

لقد اقتدوا منه بشر إمام

And there were men destroyed by their passion

They certainly imitated an evil imam

هذا يسبح ذا وهذا قائل

لأخيه أنت الله ذو الإِعظام

This one praises another and that one says

To his brother you are the God of greatness

حتى لقد حدثت عن شيخ لهم

بالثغر قال وقد أتى بطعام

Until I told about a scholar among them

In the frontier who, when he brought food

ماذا تقول لمن يواكل ربه

بالأدم أحيانا وغير إدام

What do you say to one who shares his Lord’s meal

Sometimes with meat and sometimes without meat

فصرخت في العلماء أرفع معلنا

صوتي وفي أهل التقى الاعلام

So I cried out to the scholars, raising my voice

Announcing and the people of piety and flags

أيسب بينكم الإله فتسكتوا

وتذوق أعينكم لذيذ منام

Is God insulted among you, so you are silent

And your eyes taste the sweetness of sleep?

أو في حدود الله ترعى فيكم

لأخ أواصر حرمة وذمام

Or in God’s limits, do bonds of sanctity and oaths to God

Bind you for a brother among you?

أسمعتم علماء أرض غيركم

لا ينكرون الطعن في الإسلام

You heard scholars of other lands

Do not condemn attacks on Islam

نفعتهم الذكرى وقد ذكرتهم

واستيقظوا من رقدة الأحلام

Advice benefited them, and I reminded them

And they woke from the slumber of dreams

ورأوا رضى الباري الأهم فاسخطوا

من أسخطوا فيه بلا استحشام

And saw God’s pleasure is most important, so they were angry

With those who angered Him without shame

إلا رجالا صانعوا من دونه

في الله ذي الإِفضال والإِنعام

Except for men who apart from Him

Made in Allah of grace and blessing

كتموا شهادتهم فهان عليهم

سخط المهيمن في رضا أقوام

They concealed their testimony, so His

Wrath was slight to them in pleasing people

فاغضب لربك وانتقم لحدوده

ممن يضيم الدين كل مضام

So be angry for your Lord and avenge His limits

From one who wrongs the religion every proclaimer

ما كان يغضب أحمد يا أحمدا

إلا لحرمة ربه ويحامي

What made Ahmad angry, O Ahmad

Except for sanctity of his Lord and His protection?

ولأنت أولى بالنبي وهديه

فاخلفه في هذا وكل مقام

And you are most deserving of the Prophet and his guidance

So represent him in this and every position

إن تنصروا رب السما ينصركم

ويثبت الأقدام في الإِقدام

If you help the Lord of the heavens, He will help you

And steady feet in undertaking

قسما به لئن انتدبت لنصره

وضربت دون أذاه بالصمصام

By Him, if you undertake to help Him

And strike with the sword those who harm Him

لترى بعينك من عجائب نصره

أشياء لم تخطر على الأوهام

You will see with your eye from wonders of His help

Things that imaginations never conceived
