بالاجتهاد الشعوبُ تَرقى

ومجدُها بالعلوم يُرقَى

With diligence nations rise

And their glory ascends through knowledge

وإنّ بين الأنامِ فَرْقا

فما كسولٌ كذِي اجتهادِ

Indeed among people there is difference

So no slothful one is like one who makes effort

فمن درى العلم واستفادهْ

بقدره أحرز السعادهْ

Whoever seeks knowledge and benefits from it

According to his capacity, attains happiness

ولم ينل طالبً مراده

بلا عناء ولا سهادِ

And no seeker attains his desire

Without toil and wakefulness
