قد كنتِ يا مصرُ مهدَ العلم والحكمِ

قد كنتِ يا مصرُ مهدَ العلم والحكمِ

وأهلُكِ الغرُّ سادةَ الأممِ

وأهلُكِ الغرُّ سادةَ الأممِ

You were once, O Egypt, the cradle of knowledge and wisdom,

and your illustrious people were the masters of nations.

وسوف نبلغ بالتعليم ما بلغوا

وسوف نبلغ بالتعليم ما بلغوا

فالفرع وارثُ ما في الأصلِ من شيَمِ

فالفرع وارثُ ما في الأصلِ من شيَمِ

Through education, we shall attain what they attained;

for the branch inherits the virtues of the root.
