1. تفضلتَ بالآلاءِ والعدلُ والبرِّ

    فأعجزتَنا عن واجب الحمدِ والشكرِ

    You have bestowed favors, justice, and righteousness

    Rendering us incapable of fulfilling the duty of praise and thanks

  2. وقد سرتَ بين الناسِ أحسن سيرةَ

    ففزتَ بأسنَى المدح معْ أحسن الذكرِ

    And you have set the best example among people

    Winning the highest praise as well as the best mention

  3. وإذ قمت بالإصلاحِ منتبذَ الهوى

    رقمتَ اسمك السامي على صفحة الدهرِ

    And when you undertook reform, eschewing desires

    You inscribed your noble name on the page of time

  4. وخلدت في التاريخ ذكركَ إذ سَمتْ

    مزاياكَ وأزدانت سجاياكَ بالبشْرِ

    And perpetuated your memory in history when

    Your virtues rose high and your qualities were adorned with good tidings

  5. صدعت بآراءٍ أحدّ من الظبا

    وثاقبِ أفكارٍ تفوقُ على السمرِ

    You proclaimed views sharper than an Indian sword

    And penetrating thoughts superior to spearheads

  6. وسدّدت أقوالاً يؤلّف حسنُها

    إلى الضبِ في البيداءِ والنون في البحرِ

    And you uttered words whose beauty brings together

    The wolf in the desert and the fish in the sea

  7. جمعت قلوباً طالما قد تفرقت

    وفرقتَ جمع البغي والظلمُ والغدرِ

    You united hearts long divided

    And separated the group of tyranny, injustice and betrayal

  8. وبددت الاستبداد والميل للهوى

    فخلصت أفكارَ العبادِ من الأسرِ

    You destroyed absolutism and desire

    Liberating the thoughts of worshippers from captivity

  9. وأوضحت سبْلُ الحقِ بعد اشتباهها

    وأبرزت وجه العدلِ يسفر كالبدرِ

    And you clarified the paths of truth after their ambiguity

    And brought out the face of justice shining like the full moon

  10. وسست أمورَ الجندِ أي سياسةٍ

    وماجئت في أمر السياسة من أمرِ

    And you organized the affairs of the military, what a policy!

    And you came in political affairs with command

  11. وفي خدمةِ الأوطانِ قمتَ مشمراً

    وواليت من يسعى إلى ذلك الأمرِ

    And in serving the nations you girded up your loins

    And walked with those who strive for it

  12. وقد شِمْتَ راحات العمومِ براحةٍ

    خصوصية إذ أن ذا شيمة الحرِ

    And you sensed the comfort of the public with a

    Private comfort, as that is the trait of the free

  13. نظرتُ إلى الأشياءِ نظرةَ عارفٍ

    بموجبها مستعمِلاً ثاقبِ الفكرِ

    I looked upon things with the eye of a knowledgeable man

    Thereby making use of a penetrating mind

  14. فأوقفت كلاً عند واجبٍ حدهِ

    ولم تُولِ زيداً ما استحق إلى عمرِو

    So I stopped each at its defined duty

    And did not give Zayd what 'Amr deserved

  15. فحق علينا بل على الناسِ كلهم

    مقابلةَ الإنعامِ ذا منكَ بالشكرِ

    It is incumbent upon us and all people

    To repay your blessings with thanks

  16. على قدر ما في الوسعِ لا قدّر حقه

    فذلك لا يفنى إلى آخر الدهرِ

    To the extent possible, not fully due

    For that will not fade until the end of time
