قالوا استعدوا فإسماعيل يمّمكم

للامتحان وخافوا من تعقبُّه

They said be prepared, for Ismail will test you

For the exam, and fear his pursuit

وجاء وهو على دعوى تفرده

لم يمتحنا بما تعيا العقول به

And he came with his claim of uniqueness

He did not test us with what tries the minds
