عسى الله يُلقى في الأعادي خصومةً

فتشغل عنا أو يهب لظاها

May God cast enmity among the foes

To distract them from us, or make their onslaught wane.

وإلاّ فإنا هالكون ضرورةً

وأين قوانا من عظيم قواها

Else we will surely perish, without recourse—

What are our powers next to their might’s domain?
