1. سخا بفرائد الأفراحِ دهري

    وطرزت الربى بطرازِ زهرِ

    My life was adorned with the gems of joy,

    And fate was woven with the thread of a flower.

  2. فما لك لا تدير عليّ كأساً

    من البلورِ ممتلىء بتبرِ

    Why do you not offer me a cup,

    Of crystal, filled to the brim with pure wine?

  3. ومالي في السلافة من غرامِ

    فإن أنصفتَ فابدُ لها بثغرِ

    I have no desire for chastity or abstinence,

    If you would do me justice, reveal your radiant face.

  4. فمن سيف الجفون وُقِيتَ حتفي

    ومن خمر اللمى يا صاح سكري

    From the swords of eyelids you gained your death,

    And from the wine of union, my intoxication.

  5. ففي قلبي من البرجاءِ خمرٌ

    فأطفىء بالرضابِ لهيبَ جمري

    In my heart is the wine of hope,

    Quench with pleasure the embers of my passion.

  6. ولا تخْشَ الرقيبَ ووافِ جهراً

    فأن تخَف العيونَ فجِىء بفجرِ

    Disregard the watcher, and come openly,

    If you fear the eyes, come under the veil of dawn.

  7. تستر في الدجى سحر وأنَّي

    يداري في الظلام ضياءَ بدرِ

    Dawn conceals magic in its darkness,

    How can the radiance of the full moon hide in gloom?

  8. ينمّ بكل الجبينُ دجىً فأرسل

    على شمسِ الجبين ظلام شعرِ

    The forehead adorned with curls diffuses darkness,

    Send over the sun of the brow the darkness of hair.

  9. فقم ودع الوشاة إلى التصابي

    فما في الحبِ يخشى لوم عمرِو

    Arise, leave the slanderers to their amusement,

    For in love, the blame of censors should not be feared.

  10. ولا تكسل عن اللذاتِ واغنمْ

    صفاءَ العيشِ في أنسٍ وبشرِ

    Do not neglect delights, make use of

    The purity of life, in intimacy and joy.

  11. تهنأ بابنتين فبنت خدرٍ

    مخضبة البنان وبنت فكرِ

    Rejoice in two daughters, one the daughter of languor,

    Rosy-cheeked, the other, daughter of thought.

  12. لقد وافتك يا بدرُ الثريا

    كجنة لؤلؤ جاءت لبحرِ

    O moon, you have attained the Pleiades,

    Like a pearl necklace coming to the sea.

  13. وقال فم البشارةِ حين قلنا

    لهُ أرخِ حُلى تأهيلِ خيرِ

    When we said to the mouth of good tidings,

    "Reveal the adornments of the bride's preparation."
