1. اليومَ أوفت على خمسٍ وعشرينا

    فاستقبِلوا عيدها الفضيّ ميمونا

    Today she has reached twenty five

    So congratulate her silver anniversary auspiciously

  2. وهنِّئُوا فقراء المسلمين بهِ

    وصافحوا بيد البشر المساكينا

    And give glad tidings to the poor Muslims about it

    And shake the hands of the miserable humanity

  3. وعللوهم بآمالٍ مفَرحةٍ

    فطالما سرّت الآمالُ محزونا

    And inspire them with delightful hopes

    For hopes have long consoled the grieved

  4. لولا الأمانيّ فاضت روحهم جزعاً

    من الهموم وأمسى عيشهم هُونا

    Were it not for wishes, their souls would have perished in agony

    From worries, and their lives would have become disgraced

  5. واليأسُ يحدث في أعضاء صاحبهِ

    ضعفاً ويُورث أهل العزم توهينا

    And despair causes weakness in the limbs of its owner

    And deprives the determined people of dignity

  6. وتُخرس البلبل الصداح سورتهُ

    وتسلب الذلق المنطيق تبيينا

    And it silences the singing nightingale

    And strips the eloquent of elocution

  7. خلُّوا سواعدَهم تمتدّ ناشطةً

    زرعاً وصُنعاً وتطريقاً وتعدينا

    Free their arms to extend actively

    Farming, industry, roads and mining

  8. وعلِّموهم على قدر استطاعتكم

    مبادىءَ العلم والأخلاقَ والدينا

    And teach them, according to your capability

    The principles of knowledge, morals and religion

  9. فالعلم يرشدهم والخلق يسعدهم

    والدين يقصي عن النفس الشياطينا

    For knowledge guides them, morals makes them happy

    And religion drives away the devils from the soul

  10. تَلَى على كلِّ نفسٍ من مهابته

    في السرّ والجهر شْرطيّاً وقانونا

    It has supremacy over every soul secretly and openly

    Like a policeman and law

  11. إن خان صاحبَه الحظُّ استكان له

    وقال أمرٌ قضاه ربُّنا فينا

    If fate betrays its companion, he surrenders to it

    And says, "Our Lord has decreed this for us"

  12. كم أظهر العلْمُ من أطفالهم علمَاً

    فرداً وأخرج كنزاً كان مدفونا

    How much has education manifested in their children

    Individually and brought out treasures that were buried

  13. اللهَ فيهم فحرثُ الأرضِ في يدهم

    يبدون مِن سرّها ما كان مكنونا

    God in them, so farming is in their hands

    They show the secrets of earth that were hidden

  14. وهُم قيامٌ على الأنعامِ سائمةً

    وهُم طهاةٌ ونسّاج وبانونا

    And they are shepherds of cattle

    And they are cooks, weavers and builders

  15. لهمُ يدٌ كلَّ يومٍ في مرافقنا

    فلْتجْرِ مِن فوقِ أيديهم أيادينا

    They have a role everyday in our facilities

    So let our hands flow over their hands

  16. فبادروا بزكاة المال إنّ بها

    للنفس والمال تطهيراً وتحصينا

    So give the Zakat (alms) of money, as with it

    The soul and money gets purification and fortification

  17. ألم ترَوا أن أهل المال في وجلٍ

    يخشّون مصرعهم إلا المزكينّا

    Have you not seen that the people of money live in anxiety

    Fearing their death, except those who pay Zakat

  18. فهل تظنونَ أن الله أورثكم

    مالاً لتشقوا به جمعاً وتحزينا

    Do you think God made you inheritors of wealth

    So you may gather it and cause distress?

  19. أو تقصروه على مرضاة أنفسكم

    وتحرموا منه معتَّراً ومسكينا

    Or restrict it to pleasing yourselves

    And deprive the needy and poor from it?

  20. ما أنتمو غيرٌ قُوام سيسألكم

    إلهكم عن حساب المستحقينا

    You are only custodians who will be asked

    By your God about the account of the deserving

  21. أنتم خلائفه في الأرض ألزمكم

    أن تَعْمُروها وتفتنّوا الأفانينا

    You are His representatives on earth, He has obligated you

    To civilize it and purify the places of worship

  22. ولن تنالوا نصيباً من خلافتهِ

    إلا بأن تنفقوا مما تحبّونا

    And you will not get a share of His caliphate

    Unless you spend from what you love

  23. إني لأسمع همساً بينكم رجلاً

    يقول إنا مفاليسٌ فأعفونا

    I hear a whisper among you, a man

    Saying we are bankrupt so exempt us

  24. واخجلتاه الا يولى الجميل سوى

    أمثال رتشلد أو أشباه قارونا

    And I am ashamed that only the likes of Rockefeller or the peers of Qarun do good

    Give little, for there is no blame

  25. أعط القليل فما في البرّ من حرجٍ

    على امرىء وقليلٌ منك يكفينا

    Upon a man in righteousness, and a little from you suffices us

    Do not belittle little, for drizzle to its like

  26. لا تحقِرنْ قليلاً فالرذاذ إلى

    أمثاله يترك الأنهار يجرينا

    Leaves rivers flowing

    Rather determination is that you persist upon it

  27. وإنما العزم في أن تستديم له

    دهراً توطنّه في النفس توطينا

    For long making it settle in the soul

    As I have done, for I have not given it

  28. كما فعلتُ فأني ما بذلت لها

    من النضار سوى خمسٍ وسبعينا

    Except seventy five piasters since it started

    But I have not been negligent since its inception

  29. لكنّني لم أقصرّ منذ نشأتها

    فيما التزمتُ وذا جهدٌ المقليّنا

    In what I pledged, though it is hard for the givers

    Is it not a crime against Islam that it has

  30. أليس جرماً على الإسلام أنّ له

    في مصرَ أكثر من عشرٍ ملايينا

    In Egypt more than ten million

    Who were stingy to its poor with the little, so they

  31. ضَنّوا على مُعْوِزيهم بالقليل فلم

    يصّدقوا غير ألفٍ أو يزيدونا

    Only donate a thousand or a little more

    It has one association in the country,

  32. جمعيةٌ لهمو في القطرِ واحدة

    وليتهم في رضاها مستمرونا

    If only they were continuous in its pleasure

    The number of its schools have not increased

  33. على الأصابع لم تزددمدارسُها

    من ظهر أسيوط حتى بطن شربينا

    From Upper Egypt to Lower Egypt

    The smallest community in the country precedes it

  34. أقلّ طائفةٍ في القُطر تفضلُها

    فيما يؤدَّي وتعدادِ المؤدينا

    In what is given and counting the givers

    And lack of money almost destroyed it

  35. وقلّة المالِ إن كادت لتُوبِقُها

    لولا كريم تولىّ أمرها حينا

    Were it not for a generous one who took over its matter for a while

    So he united what was fragmented

  36. فلمّ من شملها ما كان مفترقاً

    وفكّ من أرضها ما كان مرهونا

    And released what was mortgaged from its land

    So protect its generosity, O Lord, and keep for us

  37. فضنْه يا رب للعليا وأبقِ لنا

    رجال دولتنا الغرّ الميامينا

    The intrepid men of our state

    And aid peace in this land and do not

  38. وأيِّد السلم في هذي الديار ولا

    تذرَ جميع بني الدنيا مجانينا

    Make all the people of the world insane
