له ثنايا إن بدت في الدجى
يكاد يعشينا سني برقها
With dips, if shown in gloominess
Would make our evening with its lightning-like radiance
وقامةٌ لولا ظبي عينه
لغرّد القمريُّ من فوقها
A figure, if not for the deer-like eyes
The moon itself would sing above it
وريقة شهدِيَّة رشفها
يشفي وبرءُ الصب في ذوقها
A petal with honey-sweet nectar
Heals and soothes the lover with its taste
ووجنة حمراء من شامها
بالعين ترمي قلبهُ باللهيبْ
Rosy cheek from Damascus
With the eyes it sets the heart aflame
