1. أعيذك من شرّ الحوادث يا مصرُ

    فقد آن أن يزهو بأبنائك العصرُ

    I seek refuge for you from the evil of calamities, O Egypt

    For it is time for your children to prosper in this age

  2. وتظهر للأيام منهم براعة

    يكون بها بين البلاد لك الفخرُ

    And for them to show the days skills

    With which you will have pride amongst nations

  3. وما أنت في جوزِ الفخار دعيةٌ

    ولكن قضاءٌ والليالي لها سِرُ

    You are not just a vessel made of clay

    But rather destined, and nights have their mysteries

  4. وتلك صروف في ظروفِ تقدمت

    لتأخيرنا حيناً فلا ردها الدهرُ

    Those are the turns of circumstances

    That delayed us for a while, time cannot change them

  5. فإن كنتِ قد قصرت فيما مضى ففي

    طوالع الاستقبال ينتظم الأمرُ

    If you fell short in the past, in

    The horizons of the future order will be set

  6. وحسبك أن قد لاح فيك أئمة

    لهم في دواوين النُّهىَ النهْي والأمرُ

    It suffices you that leaders have emerged in you

    For them in the records of prohibition is the prohibition and command

  7. عُنوا باتباع المجد حتى عَلا لهم

    على المشتري قدرٌ وسار لهم ذكْرُ

    They cared for pursuing glory until

    Their value became high to the Buyer and their mention circulated

  8. ومالوا إلى نشر المعارف والهدى

    ففاح على الأكوانِ من طِيبها نشرُ

    And they inclined to spread knowledge and guidance

    So its goodness has spread fragrantly over the galaxies

  9. وإن جحد الغر الجهول فخارهم

    فهذا دليل أن آثارهم غُرُ

    And if the ignorant foreigner denies their superiority

    This is proof that their effects have overwhelmed

  10. كتابٌ فريد من تآليف تدرسٍ

    إذا قِسْتَه بالدر يستحقَرُ الدرُّ

    A unique book of the compositions of Teaching

    If weighed against pearls, pearls would be worthless

  11. تخال إذا طالعته أنّ ما مضى

    من المر مشهود وهذا هو السحرُ

    You'd think when reading it that the past bitterness

    Is witnessed and this is sorcery

  12. وتنظر في أسجاعه حسنَ يوسف

    فيا حبذا في حسنهِ السجع والشعرُ

    And you see in its rhythms the beauty of Joseph

    How excellent is the rhyme and poetry in its beauty

  13. به تشحذ الأذهان والروح ترتوي

    بعذب مبانيه ويسترشد الفكرُ

    It sharpens the minds and the soul is satiated

    With the sweetness of its structure and thought is guided

  14. فيا نبهاء القوم جدوا كتدرسٍ

    فما للفتى من دون آدابهِ قدر

    So oh eminent people, strive like Teaching

    For the young man is worthless without his manners

  15. وأحيوا بهذا العصر لهجة قومكم

    فليس على نسيانها يحسن الصبرُ

    And revive with this age the dialect of your people

    For bearing its forgetfulness is not seemly to endure
