من ظرف هذا الظرفِ

From the elegance of this elegance

ظهوره يغنيك عن

ما في بطونِ الصحفِ

Its appearance will suffice you

From what is in the cores of books

فوائدٌ مجموعها

منفردٌ في الوصفِ

Benefits gathered

Singular in description

ألفيةٌ لكنها

تفوق ألف ألفِ

A thousand yet

Exceeding a thousand thousand

كم أحرزت إفادةً

وكم حوت من كشفِ

How much benefit you gained

And how much it contained of discovery

صنْع يد النجار من

غصون روض اللطفِ

The work of the carpenter's hand from

Branches of the garden of subtlety

فما عكف عليها وارتشف

بالظرف أحلى رشفِ

So he did not rest upon it and sipped

The sweetest sip with elegance

ورُض بها النفسَ إذا

أجلت طرِف الطرفِ

And the soul was pleased with it when

It glanced at the edge of elegance

بالفعل زاهي طبعها

بدا بأسمي حرفِ

Indeed, its nature is radiant

It began with my finest letter

فقلت في تاريخهِ

أبهج بطبع الظرفِ

So I said in its date

It delights with the nature of elegance
