1. هي الروضة الغناء مرءاً ومسمعا

    فما أبصرت عيني ولا سمعت أذني

    She is the singing garden that delights the ear and heart

    Never did my eyes behold, nor my ears hear

  2. تروق لأطيار الحدائق منظراً

    فتوصل من بشر بها اللحن باللحن

    A scene more pleasing to the birds of the gardens

    Where melody is linked to melody through song

  3. أطلت على الأشجار فهي مليكة

    لذاك عليها جل أغصانها تثني

    I looked upon the trees - she is their queen

    For this, most of their branches bow to her

  4. لها صدر طاووس تطاول ناشراً

    جناحيه بأمثال اللجين بلادهن

    She has the chest of a peacock, spreading

    Its wings with the likes of supple branches

  5. وقد أحدقت فيها الحدائق مثلما

    يطوف بأحداق المهى هدب الجفن

    The gardens gaze at her as eyes

    Roam the beloved's allure and charm

  6. يقبل ثغر الأقحوان شقيقه

    ويلتف فيها الغصن الغصن اللدن

    The rose bud kisses its twin

    And the tender branch embraces the branch

  7. لها النهر طوق والأراهير حلية

    لذا أصبحت في الحسن فائقة الحسن

    The river is her necklace, and ponds her jewelry

    Thus, in beauty she surpasses beauty itself

  8. دخلنا فزرنا جنة الخلد عندها

    وكانت مكان الصبح في الحالك الجن

    We entered and visited the eternal heaven through her

    And it was as dawn breaking the darkness of night

  9. خرجنا وقد قيل أمكثوا وكأننا

    أريد بنا لما خرجنا إلى السجن

    We left, though we were told to stay, as though

    Departing her meant for us the prison

  10. فدتها قصور حول دجلة شيدت

    على حين لم يسمن ثراها ولا يغني

    Palaces around the Tigris were sacrificed for her

    Though their riches and bounty were never diminished

  11. فتلك بها الأثمار تجلى لتجتلى

    وذي أبداً تجلو لنا الثمر المجني

    For through her fruits and harvests manifest

    And she forever yields produce and plenty
