جئتكم شاعراً ولست سفيراً

حاملاً مهجتي وقلباً طهوراً

I come to you a poet, not an ambassador

Bearing my passion and a pure heart

ولساناً بسحركم يتغنى

أيها الساحرون هاتوا البخورا

And a tongue that sings of your magic

O enchanters, bring forth the incense

وامنحوني الهوى أعش أتهادى

في مجاليه. أملأ الكون نورا

And grant me love, let me revel and swoon

In its realms. Fill the universe with light

امنحونيه.. إنني أقدر الحب

فكم عشت في حماه قريرا

Grant it to me.. for I cherish love

How long in its protection I lived serenely

أنا طير يهوى السموَّ إلى الآفاق

يستلهم الجدود الجذورا

I'm a bird that aspires to the heavens

That draws from ancestors deep roots

إن سودانكم سرى في ضميري

سريان الربيع يهدي العطورا

If your Sudan runs in my conscience

Like spring spreading its fragrances

شعبكم نبع نجدة ووفاء

مده يملأ العصور حضورا

Your people are a font of help and loyalty

Its waters fill the ages with presence
