1. لَهفَ نَفسي عَلى عَدِيّ وَلَم أَعـ

    ـرِف عَدِيّاً إِذ أَمكَنَتني اليَدانِ

    My soul yearns for revenge, though I knew not my foe when my hands were free

    He who attacked in wars was long, no warrior slain by a son of Aban

  2. طُلَّ مَن طُلَّ في الحُروبِ وَلَم يُطـ

    ـلَل قَتيلٌ أَباتَهُ اِبنُ أَبانِ

    A horseman who smites the battalion with sword, while eyes shine ahead of him

  3. فارِسٌ يَضرِبُ الكَتيبَةَ بِالسَيـ

    ـفِ وَتَسمو أَمامَهُ العَينانِ
