نَحنُ مَنَعناكُم وُرودَ النَهرِ

بِالمُرهَفاتِ وَالرِماحِ السُمرِ

We prohibited you roses of the river

With lances and dark-pointed spears.

فَوارِسٌ مِن تَغلِبٍ وَبَكرِ

عَلى خُيولٍ شُزَّبٍ وَضُمرِ

Horsemen of Taghlib and Bakr

Upon lively steeds of pure breed.
