    ومشعل الفكر ، وريانه

    And O ray of magic, O its spring

    And the torch of thought, and its flames

  3. يا نافث الفتنة ، رفافة

    وعبقر الشعر ، ودهقانه

    O kindler of sedition, gently

    And genius of poetry, and its ecstasy

  4. تلقن المطرب الحانه

    وتلهم الشاعر أوزانه

    You teach the singer his melodies

    And inspire the poet his rhythms

  5. رداؤك الاسود ملق على

    الدنيا رؤى الحسن و افنانه

    Your black cloak laid upon

    The world, the visions of beauty and its idols

  6. ياليل يا قائد جيش الدجى

    یا بطلا خلد فرسانه

    O night, O leader of the army of darkness

    O hero whose knights are immortalized

  7. ومعجزا ينهض ما حاولت

    افهام حسادك ، نكرانه

    And miracle that arises what your

    Enviers' minds attempted, to deny it

  8. واية لله فيها يد ...

    بيضاء ... جل الله سبحانه

    And a sign of God in it is a hand...

    White... God glorified His praise

  9. ويا حليما ، جاعلا سیفه

    اخلاقه العز ، وايمانه

    And O forbearing one, making his sword

    His morals the honor, and his faith

  10. يافا تكامل على قوة

    ضراوة الفتك و نشدانه

    O Jaffa perfected in the strength

    Of the ferocity of murder and its intensity

  11. وراعيا اضنکه سهده

    فناء ، ما يحفل قطعانه

    And guardian narrowed its plateau

    Of demise, not caring for its cattle

  12. في صمتك المرهوب ، في سطوه

    ما أخمل البحر ... وشطانه

    In your revered silence, in its tyranny

    That the sea does not overlook... and its banks

  13. خالك (معنى الشر) أو (رمزه)

    (مانی) فاستنفر اعوانه

    Get rid of (the meaning of evil) or (its symbol)

    (Doubt) so mobilize its aides

  14. ياليل هل يعقل منك الورى

    نكرانك العيش ، وهجرانه

    O night, can the creatures deny

    You life, and abandon you

  15. كلا ، فهذا عالم جاحد

    مدينه يمطل دیانه

    No, for this is an ungrateful world

    A city that delays its judgement

  16. ياليل هذا عالم ثائر

    واثب فيه انسه جانه

    O night, this is a rebellious world

    In it, man awoke his devil

  17. ياليل هذا عالم اهوج

    بیدقه طاول فرزانه

    O night, this is a confused world

    In it, the rational pounded its drums

  18. ياليل هذا عالم سادر

    رشیده صاحب غيانه

    O night, this is an arrogant world

    Its guide the owner of madness

  19. ضعيفه مفترس جهرة

    حاكت يد القوة اكفانه

    Weak predator publicly

    The hand of power knitted its shrouds

  20. ياليل غشياننا عالما

    كاسيه لا يرحم عريانه

    O night, a world has covered us

    Wearing no mercy for the bare

  21. عالمنا ، ياليل ذوقوة

    راويه ، ما يعبأ ظمآنه

    Our world, O night, with brutal

    Eloquence, not caring for its thirsty

  22. ياليل من نامن فى عالم

    شبعانه ، سخر جوعانه

    O night, those who slept in a world

    Satiated, ridiculed its hungry

  23. ان طلب الحق به فاضل

    هد عرام الظلم بنيانه

    If the truth is sought in it virtuously

    It would destroy the pillars of injustice

  24. او طامن الحر به نفسه

    أباح للطاغين اهوانه

    Or if the free man risks himself

    It permits the tyrant to humiliate him

  25. والأعزل المدلج نهب العنا

    فيه ، وان سالم عقبانه

    And the helpless armed looted the disgrace

    In it, even if its eagles are safe

  26. ياليل لا ، فالدین فوق الحجى

    فليعلن الثائر اذعانه

    O night, no, for religion is above reasoning

    So let the rebel declare his submission

  27. بصيرة الدين، وهل غيرها

    رد على الحائر ايقانه

    The insight of religion, and what else

    Returned the lost his certainty

  28. تقودنا للخير في حكمه

    تروى لهيف القلب حرانه

    It guides us to goodness in its wisdom

    It narrates to the flaming heart its burden

  29. جل علا الله وقرت به

    ضمائر، تلهم عرفانه

    Supreme is God and hearts settled in Him

    Consciences, that inspire its knowledge

  30. فتؤثر الخير على ضده

    وتستميح الله غفرانه

    So it prefers good over its opposite

    And seeks God’s forgiveness and pardon
