يزهو القريض به ويسمو المنطق

عيد على هام العلا يتألق

Eloquence flourishes with it and speech is elevated

A feast shining at the summit of heights

عيد ندل به على تاريخن

فخراً بمقدمه الكريم فيشرق

A feast we boast of in our history

Pride in your honourable arrival illuminates

تقف البصائر دونه مذهولة

لجلائل الأعمال حين تحدق

Eyes stand before it, astonished

When they stare at the majesty of deeds

يا زائد الخيرات نهجك واضح

صاف كنبع النهر إذ يتدفق

O you who increase good, your path is clear

Pure as the flowing spring

توجت آمال القلوب بوحدة

في ظلهاعلم الحضارة يخفق

Hopes of hearts were crowned by unity

Under it the flag of civilization flutters

ومضيت تعلي في المحافل شأنه

حتى استقر بها المقام الأليق

You went on elevating its status in gatherings

Until it settled in the most fitting position

للشهم راشد من قواعد صرحه

ركن عليه من النضارة رونق

For the courageous Rashid a pillar of its palace’s foundations

Upon which grace and elegance flourish

بكما وبالأمراء ثم بنيكم

يحيا البناء وأهله والموثق

With you and the princes, then with your sons

The building, its people and ties live

ما كان أحوجنا لمثلك راعي

تحنو حنو الوالدين وتشفق

How much we needed someone like you, guardian

Who cares for parents tenderly and sympathizes

وإذا تجانف بعضنا علمته

أن التآلف بالمروءة أليق

And if some of us act foolishly, you teach him

That harmony with chivalry is more appropriate

والعدل أس الحاكمين وأمنهم

والأمن دون العدل لا يتحقق

Justice is the foundation of rulers and their security

And without justice, security cannot be achieved

للشعب في جنبيك ود خالص

ولك المحبة والولاء المطلق

The people have sincere affection for you

And for you is absolute love and loyalty

ولك المواقف نيرات ذكره

في لم شمل العرب وهو مفرق

And for you are shining positions of mention

In uniting Arabs when they were divided

أضنيت راحلة الوئام ولم تزل

حتى بأعتى نافر تترفق

You saddled the mount of harmony and still

With the most stubborn you deal gently

فتريه كيف المعضلات تذله

همم الرجال وعزمها المتدفق

You see how men’s resolute determination

Makes predicaments submissive and flowing

إن الذين تفتحت أبصارهم

فرأوك تستبق الكرام فتسبق

Those whose eyes opened and saw you

Outpacing the generous, overtaking

لو أنهم قدروا فعالك ما شد

إلا بذكرك عاطل ومطوق

If they appreciated your deeds, nothing would tie them

Except your mention, idle and constrained

ما كان أحوجنا لمثلك رائد

تولي ووجهك بالبشاشة مشرق

How much we needed a leader like you

Who takes charge, your face radiating cheerfulness

غرست يداك الخير في أرجائه

فنما بها زرع وأثمر مورق

Your hands planted goodness in its corners

So it grew by them thriving greenery

وأحلت بلقعها اليباب حدائق

بكرومها ونخيلها تتأنق

And made its expanse gardens with your care

With its vineyards and palms adorned

تتخلل النسمات فيء ظلاله

فيطيب منها المنهل المترقرق

Breezes meander through the shade of its trees

Sweetening the murmuring streams

يتنقل الغريد بين رياضه

طرباً وتبهجه الربى فيحلق

The warbler roams through its gardens

Singing joyfully, the groves delight it

ما اجمل الدنيا بمن أحببتهم

وطن تعز به وشهم غيدق

How beautiful is life with those I love

A homeland you honour, and generous people

وصديق صدق لا يكدر صفوه

واشٍ ينم ولا زمانٌ مقلق

And a true friend whose serenity remains untarnished

A comrade who brings tranquility, not anxiety

مهما تعاقبت السنون بغدره

والدهر ذو غيرٍ به لا يوثق

No matter how the years pass with their treachery

And time is fickle, in it one cannot trust

سيظل هذا الشعب يذكر زائد

بالفضل فهو بكل فضلٍ أخلق

This people will remember Zayed

With gratitude, for he is most upright in gratitude

خذ من بدائع ما تخط يراعتي

درراً على قمم المعاني تشرق

Take from the prime examples you outline, my guardian,

Pearls atop the peaks of meaning shining

أوحى بها قلب بحبك مفعم

والقلب حين يحب لا يتملق

Inspired by a heart filled with love for you

And the heart when it loves does not flatter

ستظل في جنبي نفس حرة

للصدق في كل المواطن أسبق

You will remain in my soul free

Preceding in honesty in all affairs

فإليك من ذوب الفؤاد تحية

أزكى من المسك الفتيت وأعبق

So from a melting heart, purest regards

More fragrant than musk crushed and most aromatic
