1. المرء يسعى والمنية أسرع

    والدهر بينهما يسر ويفجع

    Man strives, yet death is swifter

    And fate brings joy and sorrow in between

  2. قدر يسيره المهيمن حيثم

    يختاره لا حيثما نتوقع

    Our destiny is guided by the Omnipotent

    Where He chooses, not where we expect

  3. يا أمة فجعت بفقد زعيمه

    وقوى الضلال لسلبها تتجمع

    O nation who grieves the loss of its leader

    And the powers of misguidance gather to rob it

  4. نفذ القضاء ولا مفر لكائن

    حي من الأمر الذي لا يدفع

    Fate has been fulfilled, no created being can prevent

    That which cannot be averted

  5. لو كان يقبل عن جمال فدية

    لفدته أنفس يعرب والأدمع

    Had his beauty accepted ransom

    Souls of Arabs would pay it with tears

  6. لكن حكمة ربنا في خلقه

    للمؤمنين به دليل مقنع

    But the wisdom of our Lord in His creation

    Is convincing proof for believers

  7. واختار ربك ناصراً لجواره

    شأن الأمانة حينما تسترجع

    And your Lord chose a helper for His neighbors

    As trust is reclaimed

  8. يا أيها الإنسان لم ينل الألى

    ما نلت من حب به تتمتع

    O man, none has attained the high esteem

    You enjoyed from the love he possessed

  9. جرحت فجيعتك الضمائر كله

    فكأنها في كل قلب مبضع

    Your loss pained all consciences

    As if a stake pierced each heart

  10. أنا قبل فقدك كنت شاعر قومه

    أزجي القريض كما أشاء وأبدع

    Before your loss, I was my people's poet

    Composing verses however I wished

  11. فغدوت لا أزن القوافي حسبم

    أهوى ولا كيف المعاني توضع

    Now I no longer weigh rhyme as I desire

    Nor place meanings as I choose

  12. وإذا خلت نفسي إلي فإنني

    استشعر العزم الذي يتضعضع

    When alone, I feel the resolve crumbling

    What can I say, when my patience is tested and found futile

  13. ماذا أقول وقد بلوت تصبري

    فوجدت صبراً منهكاً لا ينفع

    I tried to stop the tears by perseverance

    But failed, and weeping flowed beyond control

  14. حاولت إيقاف الدموع تجلد

    ففشلت واستعصى علي المدمع

    I beg the poet to excuse me a poem

    That jest, though frailty shows through my ribs

  15. إني لأستعفي الأديب قصيدة

    هزلت وبان من الهزال الأضلع

    I cry from the bitter separation

    But despite tears, I do not despair

  16. أبكيه من حر الفراق تألم

    لكنني رغم البكا لا أجزع

    I will not record his date here

    His record is studded with virtues

  17. أنا لن أسجل ههنا تاريخه

    فسجله بالمكرمات مرصع

    Arabs know his merits and jihad

    Like rain wherever it strikes parched land

  18. والعرب تعرف فضله وجهاده

    كالغيث حيث يصيب أرضا تمرع

    I ask all I meet: Will our sun rise again

    After its setting?

  19. إني لأسأل كل من لاقيته

    هل شمسنا بعد الغروب ستطلع

    And can the bereaved, after the leader is lost

    Regain what the tyrants stole and return it?

  20. وهل المهيأ بعد فقد زعيمن

    سيعيد ما سلب الطغاة ويرجع

    You gave Arabism value it lacked

    Since the Caliphate or any lofty position

  21. ما كان قبلك للعروبة قيمة

    منذ الخلافة أو مقام يرفع

    Until you lit the way, so it became

    Aspiring indeed to every virtue

  22. حتى أنرت لها الطريق فأصبحت

    فعلا لكل فضيلة تتطلع

    People disagree in their views

    But agree in loving you

  23. والناس مختلفون في آرائهم

    لكن فيك على المحبة أجمعوا

    An Arab nation, whose enemy still desecrates its sanctuary, lost you

    Where is Jamal? Where is our beloved?

  24. فقدتك أمة يعرب وعدوه

    لما يزل في قدسها يتسكع

    Where is the eloquent orator?

    Where are the crowds who listened to him

  25. تموز أين جمال؟ إين حبيبنا ؟

    أين الخطيب العبقري المصقع؟

    Swayed by his beautiful convincing words?

    I hope and wish that our Lord grants success

  26. أين الجماهير التي تصغي له

    فيهزها الكلم الجميل المقنع ؟

    To one most beneficial for Arabism and Sharia

  27. أرجو وآمل أن يوفق ربن

    من للعروبة والشريعة أنفع
