They cast my flag into the raging seas,

Yet it sailed on triumphantly through the storm.

They spilled my blood in the channels of my return,

Thus my blood became a beacon for my comrades.

They put shackles and chains on my arms,

So I took from them the tune and the strings.

They stole my ink when they feared my words,

So I began to write poems with blood.

My poems appeared to be the most beautiful,

So my tormentors were furious and laid siege.

They uprooted the vineyards and burned my orchards,

The soil grew angry and bore cacti.

They took my weapons fearing my revolt,

So I threw stones in the face of the tyrants.

They blew up the houses in my village,

So I made my right my home and lodging.

And I remained, steadfast in my faith,

That I will resurrect an immense giant.
