1. أترعي الأقداح يا حوّا

    فإن الليل عسعس

    Pour the wine, O Houri,

    For the night has darkened,

  2. وينم الورد إن شاء

    إذا الصبح تنفّس

    And the roses sleep if they wish,

    When the dawn takes breath,

  3. وأديري الكاس باللَه

    فما أعطش قلبي

    And pass the cup, by Allah,

    For my heart is not thirsty,

  4. فابنةُ العنقود تحيي

    كلّ ميتٍ إي وربّي

    The daughter of the vine revives

    Every dead one, aye by my Lord!

  5. لا تخافي غفل الواشي

    ونام الرقباء

    Fear not the inattentive watcher,

    And the sleep of the spy,

  6. فاسفري يا ربّة

    الحسن وعنوان الوفاء

    Dawn, O mistress of beauty,

    Of perfection and emblem of loyalty,

  7. لأرى الطّرف الذي كم

    صرع الصبّ أحوراره

    That I may see the eyelash that has

    Felled the intoxicated youths,

  8. وأرى الخدّ الذي كم

    أخجل الورد أحمرارُه

    And see the cheek that has

    Shamed the rose with its redness,

  9. وأرى الثغر الذي أح

    لى من الخمر رضابه

    And see the mouth that has

    Made the wine pleasant to me,

  10. وأرى الجفن الذي كم

    مزّقت قلبي حرابه

    And see the eyelid that has

    Torn my heart with its glances,

  11. وأرى الجيد الذي كم

    تيّم الريم جماله

    And see the braids that have

    Captured the gazelle with their beauty,

  12. وأرى القدّ الذي كم

    أدهش الغصن اعتداله

    And see the figure that has

    Amazed the branch with its straightness,

  13. عانقيني صدق اللَه

    فبعد العسر يسرا

    Embrace me, truly, by Allah,

    For after hardship comes ease,

  14. سكرت روحي فهل

    روحك يا حوّاء سكرى

    My soul is drunk, so is

    Your soul, O Eve, also drunk?

  15. لم يرق لي العيش لو

    لاك فيا حوّا أفيقي

    Life was not pleasant unless

    You were in it, so O Houri awaken,

  16. أنت أمّي وأبي

    أنت خليلي وشقيقي

    You are my mother and father,

    You are my intimate and brother,

  17. وارقصي فالقلب ما

    بين الحنايا قد رقص

    And dance, for the heart between

    The wrists has danced,

  18. ودعينا ننتهز يا

    ربّة الحسن الفرص

    And let us seize, O mistress

    Of beauty, the opportunity,

  19. وضعي رأسك في أحض

    ان من يخشى عليك

    Lay your head in my armpits,

    Of the one who fears for you,

  20. وأنعمي بالا ونامي

    فأنا طوع يديك

    And sleep comfortably, and I am

    Obedient to your hands,

  21. وهزار الدوح غنّى

    فإذا لاح الصباح

    The birds of the thicket sang,

    So when the morning appears,

  22. فلننم نوما هنيئا

    وحمام الأيك ناح

    We will sleep a pleasant sleep,

    And the dove of the nest will moan,

  23. فلنفق كي نحتسي يا

    سلوة الروح الصبوح

    So let us enjoy, that we may drink, O

    Solace of the brisk soul,

  24. ودعي الأزهار والأطيار

    إن شاءت تبوح

    And let the flowers and birds,

    If they wish, warble,

  25. من رآنا يا حياة

    الروح في هذي الجنينه

    Whoever saw us, O life

    Of the soul, in this garden,

  26. خالنا قيساً وليلى

    أو جميلا وبشينه

    Thought us Qays and Layla,

    Or Jameel and Buthayna.

  27. إن نمت ايتها العذراء

    إن الحب خالد

    If you sleep, O maiden,

    Then love is eternal,

  28. يا ملاك الموت خذها

    روح معبود وعابد

    O angel of death, take her

    Soul with the soul of the worshipped and worshipper.

  29. أنا قيس في هواها

    وهي في حبي ليلى

    I am Qays in his love of her,

    And she in her love is Layla,

  30. عاشقان امتزجا

    والتقيا سرّا لكيلا

    Two lovers blended,

    And met secretly so the two should be concealed.
