I shattered it—the bottle of sorrows—
and poured from it poison enough to fill the depths.
I awakened my heart from the slumber of its mirage;
then it grew noble, overflowing for me with a ray of light.
My feelings—I revived them through my own sensibility:
a songstress strutting proudly within my ribs.
I shook off her recklessness and her stumbles,
and cleansed her of subjugation’s brand—my own self-deceit;
I gave her my purity to drink, and the nobility of my inmost thoughts—
radiant amid my leafy bowers and throughout my nature.
