O pearl of dreams within my heavens,
image of my joys—my angel entire,
،
my happiness, my memory, the fullness of my breast,
the bell of my life, the fragrance of the arak tree;
O melody of my soul, in its spirit’s hidden depths,
life’s melody, while every singer weeps;
turquoise jewel of my inspiration, gift of my Creator,
my preoccupation and my thought, the touch of the devout;
O my wellspring, the quenching of all my feelings—
Father! O taste of pure bliss,
I yearn for your voice, companioning and consoling me,
and for your hands, which heal exhaustion’s bite;
and for your healing prayer, which courses through my ribs,
healing my waywardness, my bewilderment, my turmoil.
،
Father—O flame of peace within my thoughts!
Peace departed; I was left caught in snares.
I remained alone in the grimness of my solitude,
for agonies to snatch me away with thorns.
