أحن إليكَ حناناً ضليعا

يرُمُّ الحنايا يسدُّ الصّدُوعا

I yearn for you with overflowing tenderness

That heals sorrows and mends cracks

وأصبو إليكَ كما الزهر يصبو

لقطر الندى إذ يُعيدُ الربيعا

And I long for you as flowers long

For drops of dew when spring returns

بدوتَ نهارا ً أَضاءَ دُجُنِّي

وكنتَ بهاءً فزدتَ سطوعا

You dawned a day that lit up my gloom

And with your radiance increased the glow

وأحييتَ قلبي كمثلِ اخضرارٍ

يُعيدُ النبات ويُحيي الفروعا

And you revived my heart like the greening

That restores plants and brings life to branches

كما القطر أنتَ كما البدر تأتيْ

شفيفاً مضيئاً تُرَوِّي الضلوعا

Like raindrops you come like the moon

A soothing light that nurtures the ribs

أطيرُ إليكَ لزاماً وطوعا

فما في اختياري أرومُ القطوعا

I fly to you, willingly and freely

For I cannot choose to sever

حبيبٌ إليَّ كسحر الأماني

قريبٌ إليَّ و تهوى الرجوعا

A beloved you are, like the magic of wishes

Close to me, though I crave return

فدتكَ الحنايا وكل البقايا

فدتكَ الحياة حياتي جميعا

For you I sacrificed sorrows and remnants

For you I sacrificed all my life

فأنتَ الربيعُ النّضيرُ اخضراراً

وأنتَ الأريجُ يضوعُ بديعا

You are the brisk, verdant spring

And the aromatic, wondrous incense

وأنتَ السّناءُ البعيدُ ائتلاقاً

تُشيعُ اشتياقاً وتبقى رفيعا

And you are the distant, radiant zenith

Raising longing, remaining lofty

وأنتَ الرفيفُ الشّجيُّ الشّهيُّ

يعمّ الحنايا ودوداً وديعا

And you are the gentle, passionate, delightful

Who fills my breast and is kindly and meek

حبيبي وروحي تَهَادَى رخاءً

فلاشئَ بعدكَ ضَاهَى الطّلوعا

My love and my soul, rest in peace

For none after you rivals the rising
