God watered the days of my youth and passion,
And the prime of my blossoming green age; may He bless a time!
A cloud that pours water in the place of its meadow,
And makes its branches grow green leaves.
It yielded copiously, that beauty without blemish added
Except that it was bitter.
When the sun reproaches me and reproaches my tormentor
With what turned red from it at sunset and what turned yellow.
The solace of the one I love, the gleam of his smile,
And his dewy glance blends intoxicating wine for me.
Many cupbearers arose around me,
The wish of every pourer to extend intoxication to me.
I know not whether from that which I was given to drink, was it passion
That I drank or was it pure magic or sorcery.
Greetings to that beauty and its goodness,
Repeated is the beauty and what was repeated.
