1. أَجدِّي فاشْربي بحياضِ قَوْمٍ

    عليهمْ في فِعالهم حَبيرُ

    Slake your thirst with the lives of a people

    Upon whom their deeds have set a mark

  2. فإنَّ بني رِفاعة في مَعَدً

    همُ اللَّجَأُ المؤمَّلُ والنصيرُ

    For the clan of Rifa'a in Ma'add

    Are the hoped-for refuge and helper

  3. هم الأخيارُ مَنْسِكةً وهَدْياً

    وفي الهَيْجا كأنهمُ الصقورُ

    They are the virtuous ones, ritualistic and guided

    And in battle as though they are eagles

  4. عن الفحشاء كلِّمُ غبيٌّ

    وبالمعروفِ كلهمُ بَصيرُ

    Far from lewdness, all are chaste

    And in virtue all have insight

  5. خلائِقُ بعضُهَمْ فيها كَبعْضٍ

    يَؤمُّ كبيرَهمْ فيها الصغيرُ

    They resemble one another in character

    Their youngest supports the eldest
