نحن الفوارس يوم الشعب ضاحية

والضاربون على ما كان من ألم

We are the knights on the day the people were raging,

And the ones who struck what was of pain,

والمعلمون وعظم الخيل لاحقة

مبتوتة كعجيم ترَّ عّنْ جَرَمِ

And the teachers, and the chasing horses neighed,

Died away like a foreigner who escaped the crime.

هلا سألت وقول الحق أصدقه

عنا وعنكُم وعن من نلق بالرقم

Why don't you ask and the truest words I say,

About us and about you and whom we meet with numbers,

أنا جدعنا بصفر من أنوفكم

أنفاً أشم فأمسى حق مصطلم

I am truthful with the zeros of your noses,

A nose I smell so the truth becomes authorized.

يا عام لا تفسد الدعوى وقد تركت

منكم عصائب بين الوج والرخم

O people do not spoil the case when you have left

From among you bands between the cheeks and the arms,

مالت عليهم لغيظ غبية بركت

فيهم أحاديثهم في الناس كالحلم

Inclined upon them the stupidity of blessing knelt

In them their talks among people like dreams.
