وحملتهم في مركب من لهفة

وغمرت في أحداقهم أشواقا

And carried them in a ship of ardor

And submerged in their eyes longings

نادوا عليك مبللين بشوقهم

حين النوى قد بلل الأحداقا

They called upon you wet with their yearning

When resolve moistened the eyes

يغفو على كفيك كل موله

كالورد لملمه الغرام عناقا

Every infatuated one sleeps in your palms

Like roses crumpled by passion's embrace

شهباء أنت قصيدتي وطفولتي

وحكايتي أنت الحنين طباقا

You are my poem and my childhood
