يقولً للشرقِ أهلُ الغرب لا وَطَنٌ
إن لم يوطّدْ على الأخلاق أركانا
The West says to the East, "No homeland
Unless morals form its pillars.
ولم تَقُمْ أمَّة ما لم تَقُمْ لُغَةٌ
تكونُ آدابُها الغراءُ عُنوانا
No nation arises unless its language
Becomes the brilliant symbol.
فأنتَ يا مبدعَ الأَعمال حِجَّتُنا
إذا اتًّخَذْتَ على الأخلاقِ برهانا
So you, creator of deeds, are our proof
If you make morals the evidence.
كوَّنْتَ باللغة الفصحى لنا وطناً
فالرُّكن أَنت إذا استقلالُنا كانا
With eloquent language you have formed a homeland,
So you are the pillar if our independence exists."
