Morning lived for us, and evening died.

In the morning I met you, and cast light.

As if God's kindness, glorified is He,

    Removed that cover at dawn.

So praise be to God for the blessing

That encompasses even the hue of air.

    Indeed the darkness sprawled aggressively

Is deeper than the abyss of oblivion.

It swallows the world in its expanse

And wipes out beauty, folding blossoms.

Were it not for the generous radiance

The grass shoots would not have turned green, nor the water blue.

In the stream's cycle there is praise for Him

And in the fountains eulogy for Him.

What is life without light? What is its color?

What is the bliss of ease and the joy of delight?

O shining glow, you are the feast of morning,

The feast of emancipated rays, the feast of space.

O weaver of clouds on your loom

You have done well, so trail them as you wish.

O clothing the heads of wheat in green

Shed this garment upon the vine.

The hanging grape clusters are generous

So pour upon them from your abundance.

    O light, O intimacy of melodies, O

Harbingers of good, glimmer of hope.

    Yours is the golden splendor

That strolled in the valley at morning and came.

Many a ray of yours doubted the gloom

So it rose at dawn, and in the dawn it lamented.

Let the darkness weep for its realm,

    Frowning, circling the heavens.

Who will convey to me from the glitter of passion

A beam of light, with no extinction to follow?

I drown in the light, my love, and in

The armadas of flame and outpouring of brilliance.
