We brought our horses from Darriya
We pushed them hard, to their utmost
Swiftly trotting, water drips off their browbands
We pushed them through mud and marsh
Parched dry, water drips off their browbands
Their whips left stripes on their flanks
He caught them before Hiyayma exhausted
Though he had striven with great effort
He got the best of Tarif and Tarif ibn Malik
It would have been a cure, had he caught the strays
Then they would know what they have brought upon themselves
Evil, for evil ever has kin
Never did I see a day where more wept
Or more were blest, exalted and humbled
