بَكَرَت بِاللَومِ تَلحانا

في بَعيرٍ ضَلَّ أَوحانا

She blamed me early for losing

Our camel astray in waning dawn

عَلقت لَوّاً تُكَرِّرُها

إِن لَوّاً ذاكَ أَعيانا

Attaching blame that she repeats

Though blame in such case is spawn

اِعلَمي أَن كُلُّ مُؤتَمِرٍ

مُخطِئُ في الرَأيِ أَحيانا

Know that every counselor

Erroneous in views at times

فَإِذا ما لَم يُصِب رُشداً

كانَ بَعضُ اللَومِ ثُنيانا

When missing wisdom utterly

Accepting some blame refines
