1. إِن كُنتِ عاذِلَتي فَسيري

    نَحوَ العِرقِ وَلا تَحوري

    If you blame me, then walk

    Toward the meadow, do not deviate

  2. لا تَسأَلي عَن جُلِّ ما

    لي وَاِنظُري كَرَمي وَخيري

    Do not ask about all that I have

    And look at my generosity and goodness

  3. وَفَوارِسٍ كَأُوارِ حَر

    رِ النارِ أَحلاسِ الذُكورِ

    And horsemen like the full moons

    In battle, stalwart men

  4. شَدّوا دَوابِرَ بَيضِهِم

    في كُلِّ مُحكَمَةِ القَتيرِ

    Who have girded their white swords

    In every decisive fight

  5. وَاِستَلأَموا وَتَلَبَّبوا

    إِنَّ التَلَبُّبَ لِلمُغيرِ

    They have taken control and wrapped themselves

    For wrapping is for the warrior

  6. وَعَلى الجِيادِ المُضمَرا

    تِ فَوارِسٌ مِثلُ الصُقورِ

    And on the concealed steeds

    Are horsemen like eagles

  7. يَعكُفنَ مِثلَ أَساوِدِ الـ

    ـتَنّومِ لَم تَعكَف بِزورِ

    They wait like black lions

    Who did not wait in falsehood

  8. يَخرُجنَ مِن خَلَلِ الـ

    ـغُبارِ يَجِفنَ بِالنَعَمِ الكَثيرِ

    They emerge from the midst of

    The dust, satisfied with abundant bounty

  9. أَقَرَرتُ عَيني مِن أُلَـ

    ـئِكَ فَوائِحِ بِالعَبيرِ

    I have delighted my eye with those

    Knights of sweet fragrance

  10. وَإِذا الرِياحُ تَناوَجَت

    بِجَوانِبِ البَيتِ الكَسيرِ

    And when the winds blow

    On the sides of the fragile abode

  11. الفَيتَني هَشَّ اليَدَينِ

    بِمَريِ قِدحي أَو شَحيري

    They snatch my hands

    To the vessel’s lip or my drinking-horn

  12. وَلَقَد شَرِبتُ مِنَ المُدا

    مَةِ بِالصَغيرِ وَبِالكَبيرِ

    And I have truly drunk from the wine-skins

    Both small and large

  13. وَلَقَد شَرِبتُ الخَمرَ بِالـ

    ـخَيلِ الإِناثِ وَبِالذُكورِ

    And I have drunk wine with the

    Mares and stallions

  14. وَلَقَد شَرِبتُ الخَمرَ بِالـ

    ـعَبدِ الصَحيحِ وَبِالأَسيرِ

    And I have drunk wine with the

    Hale slave and prisoner

  15. فَإِذا اِنتَشَيتُ فَإِنَّني

    رَبُّ الخَوَرنَقِ وَالسَديرِ

    So when I become sober, I am

    The lord of loss and destruction

  16. وَإِذا صَحَوتُ فَإِنَّني

    رَبُّ الشُوَيهَةِ وَالبَعيرِ

    And when I wake, I am

    The lord of folly and camel
