طويتَ الحياةَ خفيَّ السُّرَى

كما تذهبُ النجمةُ التائههْ

You folded life in secrecy

Like a lost star wandering

تُطلُّ على عالمٍ ينظرون

فتطرفك النظرةُ الشائههْ

Gazing at a world whose eyes stare back

With bewildered glance

وتلحظُهم، من وراءِ الحياةِ

بنفسٍ معذَّبةٍ والِهَهْ

And you watch them, from beyond life

With a tormented soul, distraught

شقيتَ بهم، حيث ساد الغبيُّ

وخصُّوه بالسمعةِ النابهَهْ

You suffered because of them, as the foolish ruled

And honored him with an infamous reputation

لقد ضلَّتِ الأرضُ في ليلِهَا

فحقَّتْ بها لعنةُ الآلهَهْ!

The earth has strayed into its night

Thus incurring the curse of the gods!
