1. هذي سماؤُكِ أنغامٌ وأضواءُ

    غَنَّاكِ «داودُ»، أم حيَّاكِ «سيناءُ»

    Your sky is melodies and lights

    "David" sang to you, or did "Sinai" greet you?

  2. أم النبيُّون قد أزجَتْ سفائِنَهم

    موعودةٌ، من ليالي النيل قمراءُ

    Or did the prophets anchor their ships

    Promised one, from the blonde nights of the Nile

  3. أم طالعتكِ من السِّحر القديم رُؤًى

    يشدو بهنَّ الثرى، والريحُ، والماءُ

    Or did ancient magic reveal to you visions

    With which the land, the wind, and the water sing

  4. أم جاء «طيبةَ» من أربابها نبأٌ

    أم أنَّ كهَّانها بالوحي قد جاءوا

    Or did news come to "Thebes" from its lords

    Or did its soothsayers come with revelation

  5. أم سارَ «عمرو» بنور الفتح فائتلقتْ

    بهِ زبرجدةٌ في الشطِّ خضراءُ

    Or did "Amr" go with the light of victory, so green crystals

    In the river welcomed him

  6. ماجتْ خمائلُ بالبشرى وأوديةٌ

    فهنَّ فاكهةٌ تَنْدَى وصهباءُ

    The doves fluttered with good tidings and valleys

    They are ripe, dewy fruits and blond

  7. يا مصرُ، ذلكَ يوم الملتقَى، وعلى

    صبَاحِهِ قَدِمَ الرُّسْلُ الأجلَّاءُ

    O Egypt, that is the day of the meeting, and at

    Its dawn the glorious messengers arrived

  8. أسْرَتْ إليك بهم روحٌ وعاطفةٌ

    وكم إليكِ بسرِّ الروحِ إسراءُ

    A spirit and affection crept to you through them

    And how many crept to you with the secret of the soul

  9. دعا، فلَّبوهُ، صوتٌ من عروبتهم

    كما يُلبِّي هُتافَ الأمِّ أبناءُ

    A voice from their Arabism called, so they answered

    As the call of the mother is answered by her sons

  10. لا بل أهابَ بهم يومٌ صنائعهُ

    من أمرها الناسُ أمواتٌ وأحياءُ

    Or a day commanded them with its making

    From its command people are dead and alive

  11. إنْ لم تَصُنْ فيه أيديهم تُراثَهمو

    فقد تَبَدَّدَ، والأيامُ أنواءُ

    If their hands do not protect their heritage

    It will be lost, and days are fickle

  12. طاحتْ بناصيةِ الضعفَى، وسخَّرَهَا

    كما يشاء الأشدَّاءُ الألبَّاءُ

    It knocked down the foreheads of the weak, and subjected them

    As the mighty and staunch desire

  13. أحرارُ دهرٍ همُ المستيقظون لها

    ومن غفوا فهمو الموتى الأرقَّاءُ

    They are the free of an era, awakened for it

    And those who slept are the uneasy dead

  14. بَنِي العروبةِ، دارَ الدهرُ واختلفتْ

    عليكمو غِيَرٌ شَتَّى وأرزاءُ

    Children of Arabism, the abode of time turned

    And discord came over you, diverse and unkind

  15. مضى بضائقتيها الأمسُ، وانفسحتْ

    أمام أعينكم للمجد أجواءُ

    Yesterday passed with its distress, and before your eyes

    The heavens opened for glory

  16. اليوم شِيدوا كما شادتْ أبوَّتُكُم

    شرقًا دعائمُهُ كالطَّودِ شَمَّاءُ

    Today build as your fatherhood built

    In the East, its pillars like the towering mountain peaks

  17. دستورُهُ وَحدةٌ مُثلى، وشرعتُهُ

    بالحق ناطقةٌ، بالحبِّ سَمْحَاءُ

    Its constitution is ideal unity, its law

    Speaking truth, kind Sama

  18. لكم بحاضركم من دهركم نُهَزٌ

    فيها لغابركم بعثٌ وإحياءُ

    For you in your present from your past strife

    In it is revival and resurrection for your past

  19. شُدُّوا على العروة الوثقى سواعِدكم

    لا يَصْدَعَنَّكُمُو بالخُلف مشَّاءُ

    Hold fast to the firm cable with your arms

    Let no dissenters break you asunder

  20. لم تنأ بغدادُ عن مصر، ولا بَعُدَتْ

    لبنانُ، والمسجدُ الأقصى، وشهباءُ

    Baghdad did not distance from Egypt, nor

    Did Lebanon, the Aqsa Mosque, and Shuba

  21. أيُّ التخوم تناءَتْ بين أربعها

    لها من الروح تقريبٌ وإدناءُ

    Which of the borders distanced between the four

    When they have closeness of spirit and approach

  22. أرضٌ عليها جرى تاريخنا، وجرى

    دَمٌ به كَتَبَ التاريخَ آباءُ

    A land where our history flowed, and

    Blood flowed with which fathers wrote history

  23. مباركٌ غرسُهُ، منه بأندلسٍ

    والقادسيَّةِ، واليَرْمُوكِ أجناءُ

    Blessed is its planting, from it in Andalusia

    And Qadisiya, and Yarmouk, branches

  24. خوالدُ النَفْحِ لم يَذْهَبْ بِنَضْرَتِهَا

    حَرٌّ، وقَرٌّ، وإِصْبَاحٌ، وَإِمْسَاءُ

    Khalid's eternal charm did not take its freshness

    In heat, cold, dawn, and dusk

  25. إيهٍ بني الشرقِ! فالأبصارُ شاخصةٌ

    لما تُعِدُّونَ، والآذان إصغاءُ

    O people of the East! The eyes are watching

    What you prepare, and the ears listening

  26. يستطلعُ الشرقُ ما يجري به غَدُهُ

    يا شرقُ إنَّ غدًا هدمٌ وإنشاءُ

    The East observes what its tomorrow holds

    O East, tomorrow is destruction and building

  27. بصيحة السِّلم لا يَأْخُذْكَ إغراءُ

    فَلِلْمَطَامِعِ إغراءٌ وإغواءُ

    With the call of peace be not misled

    For ambitions there is temptation and misleading

  28. تَفَتَّحَتْ صُحُفُ الأيامِ وانبعثتْ

    أقلامُها، وَصَغَتْ كُتُبٌ وأَنْبَاءُ

    The pages of days opened and their

    Pens sprang forth, books and news bowed

  29. وَطَأْطَأَتْ أُمَمٌ مَقْهُورَةٌ، وَرَنَا

    أنصارُ حَقٍّ على الجَلَّي أودَّاءُ

    And oppressed nations sighed, and the

    Supporters of truth loudly wailed

  30. مَسَّتْهُمُ الحربُ مَسَّ المُرْمَضِين بها

    فما تَشَكَّوْا، ولا شكُّوا، ولا راءوا

    War touched them like those thrust into it

    Yet they did not complain or grumble or censure

  31. في عالم الغد ماذَا قد أُعِدَّ لهم

    وما تَرَى أُمَمٌ في الحرب غلباءُ

    In the world of tomorrow, what is prepared for them

    And what do you think nations in war victors are?

  32. خَطَّتْ مواثيقَ للإنسان واشترعتْ

    بناءَ دنيا لها الإحسانُ بنَّاءُ

    They drafted covenants for man and legislated

    Building a world kindness constructs

  33. إني أخاف عليها أن تضيِّعَهَا

    يدٌ مُبَرَّأةٌ للسِّلْمِ، بيضاءُ

    I fear for them they will lose it

    A hand absolved of peace, pure white

  34. في ساعةٍ من خُمارِ النَّصْرِ سامرُها،

    لِمَا جرى من عهودِ الأمسِ، نَسَّاءُ

    In an hour of the intoxication of victory, its revelry

    For what transpired of yesterday's covenants, forgetful

  35. فَقُدْ شِرَاعَكَ لا تُسْلِمْ أَزِمَّتَهُ

    لغير كَفِّكَ إنَّ الريحَ هوجاءُ

    So set your sail, do not deliver its helm

    To other than your palm, the wind wayward

  36. يا شرقُ، مجدُكَ إِنْ لم تُرْسِ صخرَتَهُ

    يداكَ أنتَ، فقد أَخْلَتْهُ أهواءُ

    O East, your glory, if you do not build its rock

    With your hands, it will be scattered by winds

  37. يا شرقُ، حقُّكَ إنْ لم تَحْمِ حوزَتَهُ

    صدورُ قومِكَ، لم تُنْقِذْهُ آراءُ

    O East, your right, if your people's breasts do not protect its keeping

    Opinions will not save it

  38. والكونُ ملحمةٌ كبرى جوانِبُها

    دمٌ، ونارٌ، وإعصارٌ، وظلماءُ

    And the universe is a great epic, its aspects

    Blood, fire, storm, and darkness

  39. أكان عندكَ هذا الموتُ يصنعُهُ

    بكفِّهِ آدمُ العاصي، وحوَّاءُ

    Was it in your power that death makes

    With his hands disobedient Adam and Eve?

  40. من ذات أجنحةٍ يخشى مسابحَها

    غولٌ، ونسرٌ، وتِنِّينٌ، وعنقاءُ

    Of a winged being its swimming feared

    An ogre, eagle, dragon, and giraffe

  41. شَأَتْ خطاها بساطَ الريح وانطلقت

    والأرضُ من هولها سوداءُ حمراءُ

    Its steps swept the carpet of wind and took off

    And the earth from its horror black and red

  42. تعلو وتنقضُّ وَشْكَ اللَّمْحِ صاعقةً

    يكاد منها يُصيب النجمَ إعماءُ

    It ascends and dives like lightning flash

    Almost causing the star to faint

  43. وزاحفاتٍ من الفولاذ قد هُصِرَتْ

    من ثقلهنَّ لصدر الأرضِ أحناءُ

    And crawlers of steel it has emptied

    Of their weight the earth's chest bends

  44. إنْ صَعَّدتْ، فالجبالُ الشمُّ هاويةٌ

    أو عربدتْ، فالصخورُ الصمُّ أشلاءُ

    If it ascended, mountains are plummeting abysses

    Or if it roared, mute rocks are wrecked

  45. لم يَخْلُ من شَرِّهَا ماءٌ ويابسةٌ

    أو تَنْجُ من غدرها غابٌ وصحراءُ

    Neither water nor land is free of its evil

    Nor forest or desert safe from its betrayal

  46. يا شرقُ، يومُكَ لا تُخْطِئْ سوانحَهُ

    فليس تُغْفَرُ بعد اليوم أخطاءُ

    O East, your day do not miss its flanks

    For after today sins are not forgiven

  47. في عهد «فاروقَ» طاب الملتقى، وعلى

    جَنَّاتِهِ لَقِيَ القربَ الأحبَّاءُ

    In Umar's era the meeting was blessed, and upon

    Its gardens the loved ones met

  48. حَمَى العروبةَ أعراقًا، ومدَّ لها

    خِصبًا لها فيه إنباتٌ وإزكاءُ

    It protected Arab lineages, and extended

    For it fertile land, growth and cultivation

  49. وباركَتْها سماءٌ من مآثِرِهِ

    فهيا لكلِّ صنيعٍ منه لَأْلَاءُ

    And the sky of his glories blessed it

    So for each of his works are banners

  50. عباقرُ الشَّرق هم آباؤُهُ، وهمو

    ملوكُهُ الصِّيدُ، والشمُّ الأعزَّاءُ

    The East's geniuses are its fathers, and they

    Are its lion kings, venerable nobility

  51. يا عُصبةَ «الوحدة الكبرى» وعصْمَتَهَا

    هذي طوالعكم جلواءُ غرَّاءُ

    O union of the "Greater Arab Unity" and its coalition

    I wish I could eulogize, singing

  52. ودِدْتُ لو شِدْتُ بالأسماء شاديةً

    بها ربوعٌ حبيباتٌ وأرجاءُ

    Beloved lands and spaces

    And I do not name the varied virtues of the youths

  53. وما أُسمِّي فتًى شتَّى مناقبُهُ

    إنَّ المنَاقِبَ للفتيانِ أسماءُ

    For virtues for the youths are names

    Mustafa and his disciples, if mentioned

  54. المصطفى وحواريُّوهُ إن ذُكرُوا

    فالشرقُ مَنْبَهَةٌ، والغربُ أصداءُ

    The East awakens, and the West echoes

    And you are each for the protection of his homeland a hero

  55. وكلكم عن حمى أوطانه بطلٌ

    مستقتلٌ قرشيُّ الروحِ فَدَّاءُ

    A ransom with Qurashi soul redeemer

    By God, if you come to the valley and your pillar is

  56. باللهِ إن جئتم الوادي وناسمكم

    ثَراهُ، فهو أزاهيرٌ وأنداءُ

    Its flowers, it is aromas and songs

    And yesterday circled with memories and a

  57. وطاف بالذكريات الأمسُ واسْتَبَقَتْ

    بالدمع عينٌ، وبالأشواقِ حَوْبَاءُ

    Eye competed with tears, and hearts with passions

    So fulfill the rights of brotherhood that a

  58. فاقضوا حقوقَ إخاءِ تستجير به

    أُختٌ لكم في صراعِ الدهرِ عزلاءُ

    Sister seeking refuge in the struggle of time alone takes shelter

    Her food is the crumbs of living, anguished

  59. طعامُها من فُتاتِ العيشِ مَسْغَبَةٌ

    ورِيُّهَا منهُ إيلامٌ وإشْقاءُ

    And her drink from it is pain and agony

    The buyer's gold made lawful for her, and an

  60. أحَلَّهَا ذَهَبُ الشَّاري، وحرَّمَهَا

    عصرٌ به حُرِّرَ القومُ الأذلَّاءُ

    Era in which the wretched were freed deprived her

    Two wars have wounded her, in blood and tears

  61. حَرْبَانِ أثخنتاها أدمعًا ودمًا

    تنزو بها مهجةٌ كَلْمَى وأحشاءُ

    A gut pained, and entrails and bowels

    This is Palestine, or this is her story

  62. هذي «فلسطينُ» أو هذي روايتُها

    ماذا تقولون إنْ لم يُحْسَمِ الدَّاءُ؟

    What do you say if the disease is not cured?

    She looked to you, did she not have

  63. تَطَلَّعَتْ لكم وَلْهَى أليس لها

    على يديكم من العِلَّاتِ إبْرَاءُ؟

    Healing at your hands from the sublime?

    You took the covenant for her from your fatherhood

  64. حملتمُ العهدَ فيها عن أبوَّتكم

    إنَّ البنينَ لحملِ العهدِ أكفاءُ

    Sons are suited to carry the covenant
