1. God’s lion cub, O Sayyid Ahmad,

    God’s lion cub, O son of al-Rifa‘i.

  2. Cast off sleep and be blessed

    through your spacious nights.

  3. How many a lowly servant was kept far away,

then became aware of the Mystery.

  4. Whoever came among you and found blessedness

    had his endeavors praised.

  5. Your servant is farthest sunk in sin,

far from you and not hearkening.

  6. Raise up everyone laid low,

    and drive away every aggressor.

  7. Your light, in every mosque,

    hastens ahead of the brethren.

  8. Your name is remembered at every vantage—

how far indeed your reach extends!

  9. O dear folk of the Light, give aid

to a lowly servant cut off from all help!

  10. Then turn compassionately toward us in earnest,

O best of all who walk the lands:

  11. Ahmad, the guiding one, divinely aided

by a Book possessed of radiance.

  12. It rendered the aggressor powerless and laid him low,

    whether eloquent or brave.

  13. O my beloved, O Muhammad,

be our succor on the day of loss.

  14. Stand by us at every station,

and shield us from every pursuer.

  15. Restrain a treacherous betrayer who has rebelled,

who has no regard for God,

  16. who would extinguish the renewed Light

    and surely spread religious innovation.

  17. Thus Ali ibn Muhammad

hopes to see all strife cease.

  18. May God’s blessing forever,

    with peace following upon peace,

  19. reach Muhammad, the Guide,
