كم من فويجر طغى
وجار فينا وبغى
How many tyrants have transgressed
And been unjust to us
رجوت من ربّ الوغى
خذلان من بنا غدر
I prayed to the Lord of might
To forsake those who betrayed us
كم قرّر الد
رس له
How many lessons have we taught
And brought them near
من مهجة لي ولهُ
.................
And gave them high position
And they became boastful
لمّا حوى مقصدهُ
بنعمة الله كفر
Then they followed
The devil and the self
كم علّمن الأدبا
وأجلسنّ وقرّبا
In evil they strove
Like a fleeing donkey
ونال منّا منصبا
وصار شخصاً مفتخر
Woe to those who mocked
And took the path of mockery
ثمّ غدا متابعاً
إبليس والنّفس معا
They became laughing stocks
Woe to them on the day of escape
لدى الشرور قد سعا
سعي حمار قد نفر
The day foes meet
The day judges are selected
ويل لمن تجرّا
في سبِّ من يتسرّا
The day flags are raised
Before a vanquishing King
وقد غدا مستهزأ
ويل له يوم المفرّ
O you who want safety
And spoils of war
يوم التقاءِ الخُصما
يوم اختيار الحُكما
Or seek mercy
Hold fast to the good people
يوم ارتفاء العلما
عند مليكٍ قد قهر
The people of glory and highness
Of generosity and loyalty
يا من يرد أن يسلّما
أو يحويّن المغنما
Through them distress is uncovered
Their faces like the moon
أو يرتجي أن يرحما
فليلزمن أهل الخير
They are kings of the world
Inheritors of the best of the world
أهل المعالي والعلى
أهل المكارم والولا
Stars in the soil
A rain when rain is scarce
بهم غدا يُجلى البلا
وجوههم مثل القمر
They are our rescue
On the day we meet
هم الملوك في الورى
هم وارثو خير الورى
Happy is he who holds fast to them
He will be saved from hellfire
هم النجوم في الثّرى
غيث إذا ضنّ المطر
My Lord through them brings life to countries
With cattle and servants
همو إذا ضاق الخناق
غياثنا يوم التّلاق
Remembrance of them in every gathering
Covering settlements and towns
يا فوز من لَهُ اعتلاق
بهم يجار من سَقر
So beware my brother of insulting them
And beware degrading their honour
ربّي بهم يحيي البلاد
مع المواشي والعباد
And be eager to be of their party
To be saved when sight dazzles
ذكراهمو في كلّ ناد
عمّ البوادي والحضر
فاحذر أخي من سبِّهم
واحذر تخض في عرضهم
واحرص تكن من حزبهم
تنجو إذا برق البصر
