1. يا من تفتَّح كالربيع لناظري

    فلمحتُ فيه شقائقاً وبهارا

    O you who bloom like spring to my eyes

    I glimpsed in it daisies and spring flowers

  2. والفُلَّ يشرقُ بالضياءِ وبالشَّذا

    والنرجسَ النعسان والنُّوَّارا

    The jasmine shines with light and fragrance

    The drowsy narcissus and the wild roses

  3. والوردَ مخموراً يتمتم: ويحكم

    هيا اغنموا مُتع الحياةِ قصارا

    The intoxicated rose murmurs: Alas

    Seize the fleeting pleasures of life

  4. متباين الألوانِ ألَّفَ بينها

    ذوق يبلبلُ سرُّه الأفكارا

    Of varied hues it composed between them

    A taste whose secret dazzles thoughts

  5. تلك المفاتنُ ينتهين لغايةٍ

    ولقد يريبك أنها تتبارى

    Those charms lead to an end

    And it may confuse you that they compete

  6. أمثولةُ الحسنِ البديعِ مرامُها

    تطوى لها المضمارَ فالمضمارا

    The paragon of beauty its purpose

    The race course is folded for it, and the race course

  7. فكأنَّها أحزابُ شعبٍ راشدٍ

    كلٌّ يجمِّع حوله الأنصارا

    As if they are factions of a righteous people

    Each gathering its supporters around it

  8. يتنافسون، وإنَّما مرماهم

    تحقيق آمال البلادِ كبارا

    They compete, but their goal

    Is to achieve the great hopes of the country

  9. ما للجمالِ وللسياسة؟ إنَّه

    هدى إلى قصد السبيلِ منارا

    What is beauty and politics? It is

    Guidance to the purpose of the way, a beacon

  10. هو عالم ننساب في أطيافه

    ونعانق الأنداء والأنوارا

    It is a world we flow in its spectra

    And we embrace the breezes and the lights

  11. من ضلَّ في ساحاته كمن اهتدى

    وكمن صحا من لا يفيق خُمارا

    Whoever gets lost in its squares is like one guided

    And like one sober from an unawakened drunk
