  1. وكنتُ أرى أنّي الصَّبور عَلَى النَّوَى

    فَقَدْ نَقَضَتْ أيدي النوى مِرَرَ الصَّبرِ

    I thought I was patient with adversity,

    but adversity has broken the ropes of patience.

  2. فإِن يَجْمعِ اللهُ المهيمن شَمْلَنا

    فذاك الَّذي أرجوه في مقبلِ العُمْرِ

    If the Almighty brings us back together,

    that is what I hope for in days to come.

  3. وإن حالَتِ الأَيَّامُ بَيْني وبينكم

    فباللهِ ألاَّ مَا مَرَرْتُم على قَبْري

    But if the days come between you and I,

    I swear you will not pass by my grave uncaring.
